I loved the TV Movie, but i thought it would have been better if the enemy was actually invading the earth. like a Cybermen or Dalek invasion set in the present. Rather then being a personal thing between the Master and the Doctor (well- with high stakes) and i would have liked it to be longer. Apart from this i still loved the movie and Paul Mgann is still an awesome Doctor.

I still haven't seen this movie yet... It's on my 'to watch' list!

Well... it's "Doctor Who", and it was written by a fan desperate to have him return to the screen, so I suppose that ounts for something. There are a lot of great moments in it, but as someone said in a previous post, it's just too Americanized. Part of the Doctor's appeal to me is his Brit-ness (all right, his alien Brit-ness), and it was downplayed too much. He was never really in control of events in the movie, either; he spent waaaaaay too much time being the victim and not enough time being the hero. I can applaud the intent, though the execution culd have been better. (The motorcycle cop yelling "I've got no brakes": Cheese Factor 8)

From what I've seen of it, it's OK but some things like the Doctor being half-human could've been left out. However it does have the Master in it!

I've seen it a couple times and its not too bad, just badly Americanised. The half-human bit made no sense and the Master was just hammed and over-acted.
At least the novels for the 8th Doctor arn't too bad for the most part.

The movie was relatively good - Paul McGann brought life to the Doctor - but it was all too American. Cool TARDIS interior though.

"...and it was written by a fan desperate to have him return to the screen..."
It was?! I heard it was assigned by Hollywood jerks to someone, American, whose only writing credit was some Lassie revival TV movie, which may not even have been made. Are you sure you don't mean Segal?
Let's not call it "American". Americans and Brits who despise Hollywood should be able to join forces here, and denounce stories that depend on car-chases as idiotic. I'm being unreasonable. I denounce lots of things as "American", but I'm an American speaking to Americans when I do it. It bothers me when it's Brits doing it.
I love the first half hour or so, the Sylvester part. I was astounded that I liked Sylvester. He became the Doctor for me. That console room was like something out of dreams. The moment with the Billie Holiday record is one of my favorite Who moments. The rest had many bizarre awkward lines and choices in it. I try to enjoy it as best I can.

You should never try to Americanise that which did not start off American. That's what someone did here with the Doctor Who TV Movie. Oh, who thinks they can write a better script?

"Oh, who thinks they can write a better script?" Me, me, waves hand in air. Given better health, time, and peaceful surroundings I could do a lot better. Even in my unhealthful state I could clean up that dialogue, in my sleep.

Tips for writing a Doctor Who story: Try not to use too much continuity, that's what happened to the TV Movie. Shame really it had such potential.

I watched the DVD last night and I voted it "rubbish". It begins with the Master executed by the Daleks and for some strange reason they gave the Doctor, their arch-enemy, his remains which are supposed to be ashes and not slime, apparently without even trying to kill the Doctor too. In the voice-over the Doctor says that eventually he learned that you can never be cautious enough yet he pops out of the Tardis after en emergency stop without even bothering to check what's outside so he gets shot... well, so much for being cautios! The Master looks like a dull crazy-ass baddie, the Tardis opens her eye of harmony (sounds like a porn thing... ;D ) to the first Asian kid she likes the Doctor is half-human and immediately shows it kissing a hot girl even if she actually killed him but unfortunately she gets possessed and starts helping the Master. Luckily when everything seems lost the Doctor gets the help he needs to defeat his enemy and the Tardis resurrects Grace and the Asian kid, who were killed by the Master. Is it Doctor Who or is it Terminator with bits of Highlander and the Master looking like a goa'uld from Stargate with the parasite invading a human host and the glowing eyes? Well I'm certainly disappointed of the result!

BTW, last night I caught my mother watching Madam Butterfly on TV and I almost shouted: "Puccini!" ;D but I contained myself at the thought that she wouldn't understand the joke.

I saw this movie a decade ago when it was on tv and don't remember it too well. If it were better, I'd remember it. Also, if it were really bad, I would remember not liking it. It was ok.
The interior of the Tardis was real nice, but too much of a departure from the classic series. Still, it was very classy, looked like a great place to live. It was also cool that they brought Sylvester McCoy back for the regeneration. You have to respect them for that.

I remember watching this when it was the UK Premier. However my memory of that day is a bit patchy but I do remember what happened.
