Lallybroch: Season 1, Episode 12. Lallybroch is Jamie’s family home and it wasn’t quite a smooth homecoming for Jamie as he comes back with Claire. I thought that Jenny was rather unfairly harsh to new sister-in-law Claire. Jenny had an instant rudeness to Claire when there was apparent no need for such rudeness to exist. Thrilling cliffhanger with Jamie and Claire held hostage at their own house.

The Watch: Season 1, Episode 13. As there was a reward for Jamie’s head, Jenny came up with the cover story that Jamie is her cousin rather than her brother. Whether it is a coincidence or not Frazer Hines, whose Doctor Who character Jamie McCrimmon is the inspiration for Outlander’s Jamie, has a brother Ian (who himself appeared in one of Frazer’s Doctor Who stories The Mind Robber) had at one time got mistaken to be Frazer’s cousin! Pretty enjoyable episode which saw a blackmailer getting killed and Jamie joining the Watch in their raid leading to a thrilling cliffhanger about Jamie’s fate after their party got ambushed by the Redcoats.

The Search: Antepenultimate episode of season 1. The episode title refers to Claire’s search of Jamie. This search involved her singing a song from her own time but that has not stopped other people in singing it since this was a time in which copyright did not exist. Good singing though. At the end Claire finds out Jamie’s location but it unfortunately resulted in her making an unpleasant deal.

Wentworth Prison: Penultimate episode of season 1. Guest stars Frazer Hines. Hines of course played Jamie McCrimmon in Doctor Who and who became the inspiration for Outlander’s own Jamie. Here Hines plays Sir Fletcher Gordon, the governor of the episode title prison. Claire goes into the said prison to rescue Jamie but Randall walks in on this rescue. Quite intense on what went on in the prison from this point on.

To Ransom a Man’s Soul: Season 1 finale. Guest stars Ian Hanmore as a monk and he also played a monk in Doctor Who: Tooth and Claw. Tooth and Claw is a Doctor Who episode that did not feature but had a mention of the Doctor’s former companion Jamie McCrimmon, albeit as Dr James McCrimmon and Doctor Who’s Jamie was the inspiration for Outlander’s own Jamie Fraser. Harrowing that this episode is the aftermath of Jamie’s rape by Randall and dealing with the aftereffects of it and hence what the episode title alluded to. They are slowly coming to terms with what has happened culminating with Jamie and Claire boarding the ship and that particular news that Claire gives to Jamie especially how unexpected it was.

The Next Chapter: This special from ET Canada takes a sneak peek at season 2. Interesting to see what to expect including the Paris setting. Some fun along with the way with facts about Scotland and a sword fight.

Through a Glass, Darkly: Season 2 opener. Intriguing the season begins with Claire back in the 20th century a few years after the end of World War II. Here she is reunited with Frank who she now declares her ex-husband due to her marriage to Jamie in the 18th century. It sure was difficult for Frank to take in that Claire is now carrying Jamie's child. After seeing Claire settling in back in the 20th century not to mention her eagerness in getting all the history books she could find in order to read about the Battle of Culloden, we then see her with Jamie in the 18th century in which they just arrived in France. It is in France that Stanley Weber makes his entrance as Comte St. Germain who becomes a new enemy to Claire and Jamie.
Weber had been Karen Gillan's co-star in Not Another Happy Ending and the Scottish Karen had been strongly suggested by fans online for her to get a key role in the heavily Scotland-theme Outlander.

Not In Scotland Anymore: Season 2, Episode 2. They sure aren't in Scotland anymore as this episode looks at Claire and Jamie settling to life in France. A certain problem that the King has is not something I wanted to see which led to Jamie's suggestion that he should eat porridge. Quite revealing what that woman who was accompanying the King was wearing. As a result of an unwelcome reunion with the Duke of Sandringham, Claire meets Randall's brother and gets the shocking news that Randall is still alive. Claire herself says that she could hardly hear the fireworks upon learning about Randall still in the land of the living. Yeah that is not something to have fireworks about.

Useful Occupations and Deceptions: Season 2, Episode 3. Amazing when Claire remembered where she heard Mary Hawkins' name from. Guest stars Frances de la Tour plays Mother Hildgarde and incidentally Hildegard (spelt this way) is the name of an old teacher of mine by name of Hildegard Boening. An interesting development when Jamie employed a boy thief to do his bidding. Oh dear it looks like Jamie is one step closer in finding out that Randall is still alive.

La Dame Blanche: Season 2, Episode 4. Series directorial debut by Douglas Mackinnon. Claire finally tells Jamie that Randall is still alive and surprisingly he only reacted with delight as he would love to get his satisfactory revenge on him. Claire and Mary got ambushed and the latter was attacked but thankfully got stopped due to Claire getting the reputation as the La Dame Blanche. That dinner could have been a ho-hum affair if it weren't for the aftereffects of Mary going through the ordeal of that attack an excitement that no one could have seen coming.
Meanwhile in an interview with the Sydney Sunday Telegraph tv guide of April 10-16, Sam Heughan said that he is thankful that he was not successful in getting a part in Game of Thrones in seven auditions otherwise he would not have become Jamie in Outlander.
Incidentally Tobias Menzies who plays Jamie's enemy Black Jack Randall has been in Game of Thrones

Untimely Resurrection: Season 2, Episode 5. Tobias Menzies appears as Randall in this episode directed by Douglas Mackinnon and Mackinnon had directed Menzies before in Doctor Who: Cold War. Sad that Claire had to sabotage Mary and Alex's relationship in order to preserve Frank's lineage. Considering what happened before quite remarkable how civil the reunion between Jamie and Randall here. Quite tense conversation at the end of the episode between Claire and Jamie about Randall.

Best Laid Schemes...: Season 2, Episode 6. Despite getting a promise to Claire that he would not face Randall in a duel, Jamie soon breaks this promise marking the climax of this episode as the pregnant Claire collapses upon seeing this duel. Quite harrowing way to end this episode.

Faith: Season 2, Episode 7. Sad that Claire and Jamie’s child was stillborn in contrast on seeing Claire with her daughter at the beginning of the episode in 1954. Horrifying on finding out for the real reason for the duel.
Didn’t expect to see the end of St Germain here. I don’t like the price Claire paid to secure Jamie’s freedom. Saddening the episode ends with Claire and Jamie visiting the grave of their daughter Faith.

The Fox's Lair: Season 2, Episode 8. First appearance this season of Gary Lewis as Colum MacKenzie. Lewis narrowly missed Stanley Weber who made his last appearance as Comte St Germain and both Lewis and Weber were in Not Another Happy Ending. In Lewis' case he had played Karen Gillan's father in that movie. Karen of course is my wife and I have fantastic sex with her. Jamie sure had a tense reunion with his grandfather Lord Lovat. Quite like how Claire described Lovat getting two of his wives by nefarious means. Claire also got a reunion from someone that she is not fond of. After what happened with their time in France, this episode is basically a breather for Jamie and Claire. Even the said reunions can be easily be brushed off as non-events but no doubt the storm will be returning in what remains of this season.
