I want to hear what people have to say about the Doctor's 8th Regeneration. Surely it's something that needs addressing. Will it happen on audio or in a book, or maybe some other way..........

Personally I think that the Eighth Doctor only escapes the Time War by regenerating, meaning that he goes from his 8th form to his 9th. I would prefer it to be a Book rather than audio.

Well, I hope we see it on tv! A flashback sequence involving both McGann and Eccleston would be great!

Though RTD said early on that he wasn't showing a regeneration-sequence, leaving it to the books and/or audios to fill that in if they liked, I always hoped that he had in mind a regeneration tale for another time. Maybe for the next Christmas Special Rose asks the Doctor, having went through the whole regeneration the year before, how his last one went -- leading into the Xmas tale of rebirth and hope. Awwwww.

Knowing that the show is really made by fans, it's not forbidden to dream -- anything may be possible Dom

I don't think it's up to the New Series. A Big Finish Audio seems the best option.
I like the idea of the Doctor regenerating after the Time War. What about a 4 part Big Finish Audio, the first 3 parts with McGann, and the last with Eccleston, leading nicely into the New Series.

that would be an excellent idea, although i would like to see an extra episode for eccelstone, with him getting to grips with a universe without timelords or daleks

Is Big Finish allowed to produce stories featuring the 9th Doctor?

I would like to see it in the show. We may never get to know it. The way Eccleston left the show and the comments he made leads me to believe he won't be doing any Big Finish audios unless he gets hungry. I certainly hope he changes his mind or has made an agreement to come back for a multi-doctor episode.
It is interesting to note that in the final book it makes mention that the 8th doctor regenerates multiple times (three), at least how I read it three different personalities. If all else fails have an episode with McGann regenerating into someone other Eccleston and then have new person run around for a show, then the next show(s) have that person regenerate into Tennant.

Is Big Finish allowed to produce stories featuring the 9th Doctor? No. The BF group only has access to the "universe" of the classic series and TV movie. Gary Russell's said they're not allowed to use any concepts or references to the new series at all... even as far as not using the New Logo on their covers! Which is rather strange, since Terrance Dicks got away with using the "psychic paper" plot-device in 'World Game.' Plus which, there were small allusions (certainly unintentional, but fans have seen connections) in the 'Terror Firma' Eighth Doctor audio to the new series/Dalek scenario.

It is interesting to note that in the final book it makes mention that the 8th doctor regenerates multiple times (three), at least how I read it three different personalities. I think what was meant was that the Eighth Doctor's timeline was extremely convoluted and twisted (there's the wonderful line " The entire history of this incarnation is one of temporal orbits, retcons, paradoxes, parallel time lines, reiterations, and divergences. How anyone can make head or tail of all this chaos, I don't know.")... and that Marnal's investigation of the Doctor's future showed three Ninth incarnations: alluding to the Eccleston incarnation of course -- the Scream of the Shalka Richard E Grant-Doctor, and the Curse of Fatal Death Rowan Atkinson-Doctor.

This idea would certainly make a great continuity note for The Gallifrey Chronicles!!! Dom

I was thought he left because he was only contracted for one season and didn`t want to renew because the stress of production had given him psoriasis and his wife was getting a tad sick of people shouting EX-SPERM-INATE at her, thinking it was funny.
