From The Doctor Who News Page: Jane Espenson has confirmed that there will be a web-based story to accompany Miracle Day called Torchwood: Web of Lies (title is quite fitting for the web format).
Actors who hasn't been mentioned before who will be appearing in Miracle Day are: - Wayne Knight
- Nana Visitor - She becomes the latest Star Trek actor to appear in the Doctor Who universe as she is an alum of Deep Space Nine (she had played Major then Colonel Kira Nerys). Her former husband and fellow DS9 cast member Alexander Siddig has appeared in Doctor Who in the Eighth Doctor audio episodes Sisters of the Flame/Vengeance of Morbius. Mr Siddig himself is currently a regular on Primeval a show that has often been compared to Torchwood. The casting of Nana Visitor means that she has become the first Star Trek regular cast member to ever appear in the televised Whoniverse.
- Mare Winningham - Her previous roles included playing Susan Grey, the stepmother of the lead character in Grey's Anatomy.
- Frances Fisher - Movie credits include the 1997 Titanic movie & Gone In 60 Seconds (which also included Ninth Doctor Chris Eccleston). Television roles included stints in The X-Files, Becker & Eureka.
Also cast is David DeSantos playing Agent Baylor. His TV roles includes a guest stint in House.

Torchwood Declassified
Like Children of Earth, the accompanying Declassifieds to Miracle Day were released straight to the DVD release.
FX Special on Miracle Day: Interesting look at how the special effects were made including that of Rex’s crash, Lyn’s twisted neck, the helicopter chase and the Blessing.

Torchwood Declassified
Behind The Scenes: On the Miracle Day DVD release this is placed in the penultimate disc. Since this is an overview in the making of Miracle Day, it looked incongruous placing it on the penultimate disc with episodes 7 and 8 instead of the final disc with the last two episodes. Overall it is a pretty good presentation in the making of Miracle Day. Highlight of this is that of John Barrowman noting the similarities and differences between Jack and Oswald. When Jack met Oswald for the first time, Jack knows that Oswald is lying when Oswald said that felt remorse for killing Suzie Kabina. Didn’t really know why Jack knew that Oswald was lying until I saw John Barrowman comparing and contrasting the two characters in Behind The Scenes. Arlene Tur (Vera) being interviewed for Behind The Scenes makes the absence of the other recurring special guest star Lauren Ambrose (Jilly) to talk about her involvement with Miracle Day very conspicuous. Remarkably DWM managed to secure an interview with Lauren Ambrose unlike Torchwood Declassified. It is questionable whether the subtitle reader had actually seen Miracle Day beforehand because in clips shown here the subtitles refer to Rex and Rhys as “Man” as if not knowing who they are. It also refer to John Barrowman as “Man” when he was laughing hence “Man Laughing”. The subtitles also refer to “Director” for the directors of Categories of Life, The Middle Men, The Gathering & The Blood Line although The Blood Line director Billy Gierhart has been identified in Behind The Scenes. So on record the other aforementioned episodes were all directed by Guy Ferland.

In the development of the Esther Drummond character she originally had the name Esther Katusi.
It looks like from the name Katusi, Esther was originally developed as an African-American character. However that changed when the very non-African-American Alexa Havins was cast as Esther and also why she had a change of surname from Katusi to Drummond.
The name Katusi still got used on Miracle Day in Escape to L.A. with Bisme Katusi played by Juanita Jennings and Russell T Davies had earlier used the name as a British character Winston Katusi, played by Allister Bain, who was a friend of Wilf in the David Tennant Doctor Who swansong The End of Time.
