I watched every episode with my kids (and taped it so they can watch it again until the DVD comes out). They loved it and I thought it good until billions of people were killed in the final episode.

Just recently saw this. I must have missed something because I didn't see billions of people killed. When and where and how?
Anyway I think Sarah playing the Doc's part as she did in all these is just...somehow WRONG. She acts like she can stand up to the big baddies somehow but she really can't. For Pete's sake, the Doctor can barely stand up to his enemies. How does Sarah threaten these baddies and then come off not being able to defeat them.
I think Luke is a great character, well acted and played. I think he'd be a great DW companion.
As for this show: I think it's somehow...okay but wrong.

That thing with the moon at the end. Think of the tsunamis, earthquakes etc on a global scale. But then it was all right again, though nobody pressed a temporal reset button. Billions of corpses, I'm telling you.
