By the time Torchwood gets shown in Australia I will probably know all the spoilers, but while I agree with davisonera thinking that Jack wasn't such a great companion, I am willing to give this show a chance.
And the cast looks impressive! It certainly will be interesting!
Oh and where-abouts will Dom plan to put the Torchwood episodes? (Assuming he will include them on the Reference site)

I wonder if Torchwood will be good? I might watch it myself. But there is one little question squirming around at the back of my mind: Are Torchwood the "good guys" or "bad guys"? This comes one after watching 'Tooth and Claw', the scene where Queen Victoria founds the Torchwood institute (The Royal Family werewolves? So THAT's why they're so secretive and act strangely! ;D).

Things appear to be shaping up nicely! From what I have read, the first couple of episodes sound very interesting!

Latest progress as reported by Outpost Gallifrey: "DWM also has a brief update on progress in the making of the Torchwood spinoff series. According to the issue, the readthrough for episodes one and two took place on Wednesday 26 April before location filming began on Monday 1 May. Colin Teague will direct Block Two, comprising episodes by Toby Whithouse and Helen Raynor, the latter titled The Ghost Machine."

Well, count me in as stoaked for Torchwood. I'm really looking forward to it.
And again I'm in the minority, as I really felt Captain Jack was one of the more interesting companions that we've had.

I wonder when it will start? I believe at some point during the autumn in the UK, not sure when around the rest of the world. I'm another one looking forward to this series, should be good. UPDATE: found this on the first page of the thread: A search on the 'net has also uncovered details of an expected UK premiere date: Saturday September 6th at 9pm on BBC3 (duration 45 minutes). Is it going to be shown on BBC1 as well? It'll probably get a bigger audience on terrestrial TV than on digital.

Oh Jack being a companion I like him. I'm hoping that we'll see more of him in Series Three as well as Torchwood, which I think I might watch to see what it's like.

I just want to say, ignoring all things to do with the production crew e.t.c and let's say that the events of Doctor Who took place in a different universe, this: When the Doctor was exiled to Earth during the 1970's, why didn't Torchwood attempt to get hold of him then?
I just want to point out, granted the production team then had no idea of Torchwood going to exist but we're just flinging that aside for the moment, ok?

Perhaps they didn't want to go near him when he was working for UNIT? They might have tried but their plans were foiled. That or they never found him, they might not have salvaged much alien technology at that point in order to use it to find him.
Mind you judging by 'Army of Ghosts' it appeared that they weren't really searching for him, more sort of getting on with other things and hoping he'd turn up.

Shame the the real UN decided to not encourage the idea of UNIT, apparently they didnt like the use of it in Aliens of London/WW3/Christmas Invasion...but glad to see a familiar element of the aliens being fought back from invading...
