Author's Introduction:In light of my previous writing project, which was scrapped, I thought I'd start anew. This story features the Tenth Doctor this time, and it is my version of how he meets Martha (who appears in the new series). It'll be a 3 Parter, with 12 chapters per part (of course, all shall appear in the same thread! ). However, like last time, please don't post your comments in this thread, it'll disturb the flow of the story. Chapter List:[/b] [/li][/ul] [/li][li] PART TWO[/li][li] PART THREE[/li][/ul] I shall link up the text with each post as I add them.
The Mines of Alraxiar

The Mines of Alraxiar PART ONE
Prologue:
A wasteland in the middle of nowhere. All around are rocky ledges, rubble lying around, trees and shrubs and mist floating around. The whole area is surrounded by vast mountain ranges and in the distance on the horizon is a city.
Six men dressed in khaki coloured uniforms and similar coloured helmets are patrolling the area. They are all holding guns, rifles, and the lead one is wearing Sergeant Stripes. "Alright men, remain vigilant at all times. There may be rebels sneaking about!" said the Sergeant. The men acknowledge with "Yes Sir!" in usual military fashion. "Excellent!" he said, and they marched on. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched by a group of soldiers, rebels. However, this time they're wearing green. A sniper watches, he aims, fires, misses. "Damm!" he shouts. However, the miss alerted the Imperial Troops patrolling. And so, all in very little time the two patrols clash; there's an exchange of gun fire, grenades are launched and in one great big explosion, all are lying on the ground, dead.
A few meters away, an old man, quite tall and wearing and emerald green cloak and hood and carrying a staff is walking towards the battle site. He strolls over to the bodies of the dead soldiers, smoke still engulphing the area, and then he pauses. "What a waste, what a senseless waste!" he chants in gruff voice. Then, the man walks into the smoke. Seconds later the smoke dissapates and the man, is gone.
Chapter One:
London, Earth, 2008. A young woman, a medical student named Martha was on her way to the local Medical University in the area. She was wearing red trousers, a red shirt and jumper and had on a white lab coat and red shoes to match with the rest of her outfit. She was walking along quietly and without incident until she passes a building with scaffolding on it. On top, without warning a box of metal bars topples over and fall. Two of them hit her on the head and she's knocked out cold. It was another Five Minutes before she was found. A man, of modest height walked up to her lying on the floor. He was wearing a blue suit, trainers, a white shirt and red tie. His hair was short yet sticking up. He bent down and examined Martha. "What do we have here then?" he said with a voice of concern. So, the man picked up Martha and carried her off. "Get her into the TARDIS, treat her, put her back and leave. It'll be as if nothing happened," he muttered to himself. The man approached a small blue cuboid structure which on it said "Police Box", and then he took her inside.
Inside the Police Box, which the man called "the TARDIS", the man laid Martha down on a bed at the opposite end of this large room. The room was quite obviously larger than the outside, was round with organic coral like supports. Martha was laid down and the then the man got out this small pen like device and began examining her. "Let's see then, minor concussion, a blow to the head..." he muttered. Then the man ran over to the consol in the middle of the room and pulled out a small green plastic box from underneath it. He then took it over to Martha and opened it. Out from the box he produced a small pen like device, and pressed it against Martha's arm and injected her with something. "That should repair the damage, now to put her back to where I found her," said the man. He climbed back over to the consol and began fiddling with the controls. In the consol, a small column began to go up and down and there was a wheezing-groaning sound. Outside the Police Box vanished. However, Martha began to wake up and the man turned round, commenting; "Oh no!" Martha got up and said; "Ooh, where am I? What happened?" she groaned, rubbing her head. "Now that's going to be a bit difficult to explain," explained the man, rubbing the back of his neck. "Wha...Who are you?" inquired Martha when she finally got her bearings back after 2 seconds. "Well, I'm the Doctor and this is the TARDIS," the man replied, "Who are you?" "Martha, Martha Jones," informed Martha. "Ah, nice to meet you Martha," said the Doctor. "Anyway, what happened to me?" Martha then asked. However, before the Doctor could answer, the TARDIS gave a violent jolt and the pair of them were shook around all over the place.
Elsewhere, a white, spartan corridor with a window at one end and lights trailing along it. Two men were walking along; they were both of equal heigh, one dressed as a clerk, the other similarly so, but this time with a big floppy hat, a cloak and he was carrying a short staff. The first one was middle aged and had brown hair, the other was older, with an aged face. The elder man spoke; "I assume the arrangments have been made?" he inquired, his voice was deep and authoritive. "Yes your excellency," confirmed the other man. "Good," replied the elder, "our visiter should be arriving at any time soon!" As he said that, not far away from the two men, a grandfather clock appeared in the hall, making a wheezing and groaning sound as it did so. "Ah, that'll be him now!" declared the elder. Out of the clock stepped a 6 foot tall man. He was dressed in black fatigues and he had sleek, wavy black hair, was wearing dark glasses and was clean shaven. "Ah, Chancellor, it's such a pleasure to meet up with you for the first time," he greeted. The Chancellor chuckled, "The Master I presume?" he inquired. "Indeed," answered the Master.
"What's happening?!?!" shouted Martha as she held onto the central consol whilst the TARDIS shook violently. "The TARDIS is obviously caught up in some space-time disturbance! I'm still trying to stabilise her!" replied the Doctor, also hanging on dear life. Then suddenly, the TARDIS gave another huge jolt, flinging Martha back onto the bed and the Doctor into some railings. "Ouch!" complained the Doctor as he rubbed the back of his neck. However, the TARDIS was no longer shaking. "It's stopped!" commented Martha, who was quite obviously relieved. "Oh thank goodness for that!" acknowledged the Doctor, "Anyway, I don't think we've quite properly introduced ourselves. I'm the Doctor and you are Martha you say?" finished the Doctor, grinning. "Yes, I'm Martha. I'm a medical student at London University and I'm apparently now late for class," Martha informed the Doctor. "Well, that can't be helped. Anyway, I'm the Doctor and I am a complete nutcase!" the Doctor quipped, much to his amusment. Martha tried not to grin. "Well Doctor, where are we now?" asked Martha. "Oh, we're still in the time vortex but we should be landing soon," explained the Doctor. "Can't wait, and landing where precisely?" inquired Martha. "Well, anywhere, anywhen," said the Doctor, "you see the TARDIS can travel into any time and any location. So, if I wanted I could take you to the planet Mars in the year 1870, if I wanted that is." Martha gave a smile. "Ah! I knew you'd do that!" noted the Doctor, pointing. Then the pair of them broke out laughing.
"And so Chancellor, I provide the technology, blue prints, technical readouts, etc, and you provide the resources to implement it with," the Master informed the Chancellor, who had now taken off his hat and cloak. "Of course, and resources are what we have plenty of," replied the Chancellor. The Master gave out a brief chuckle. "Of course you will have to deal with the alliance first, the rebels as you call them," the Master then said. "They are as legitimate an authority as the Empire is," began the Chancellor, "but they have what the empire wants. Old S'Yarin and his army are resilient, but not indestructable. We will eventually wear them down my dear Master," he concluded. "Yes, but tread carefully, Algon, their use of a mix of guerilla, conventional and unconventional warfare have toppled many an empire as I have seen in the past. So, we cannot allow for complacency!" warned the Master, sternly. Algon paused, moved on his chair a bit and gave the Master a slight glare. He then picked up a drink from his desk and took as sip, and then he put it back down. The Master to took a sip from his drink and put it back down. "Of course, should impending defeat ever befall the empire, I have a contingency plan that can give the defeat back to the alliance," the Master chuckled, and he sipped his drink once more. Algon leaned back on his chair and smiled. The Master followed suit.
Elsewhere, a considerable distance away from the Chancellor's compound, in a large wood running parallel to the waste field, where the trees were missing their leaves, two soldiers in green uniforms are patrolling. "...And so that's what I said to the Lieutenant, I ain't scrubbin' owt the toilet bowls for the eighth day runnin', alrigh'!" said one soldier, who just happened to be smoking a cigarette, or something resembling it. "Alright, now 'ush! There could be Imperials patrollin' the area too!" warned the second soldier. "Hmph, alright," responded the first and the suddenly the pair of them paused, and looked at something. "Halt! Who goes there?" called out the second soldier, pointing his rifle at something. It was the old man in the emerald cloak with his staff. The expression on his face communicated serious concern and warning. "You two should leave here at once!" he chanted out to them. "Yeah! You and who's army?" said the first soldier in an intimidating way, taking out his cigarette, throwing it on the ground and stubbing it out with his foot. "It would be wise for you two to heed warnings!" said the old man, "For in this wood is danger, an unspeakable horror!" "What, erm, "horror"?" asked the second soldier, getting nervous and adjusting his rifle's position in his hands. "The horror, horrors of the cess pits, swamps and lagoons which litter these woods," began the old man, and he pointed a bogged down pool right next to him with his staff. Then he looked back up again, "These horrors of the pools were created by you lot, the two armies fight for control of the planet! Here in these pools you pumped your industrial waste, chemical and biological weapons contimanted these places. Oh, and furthermore the pools are also littered with the bodies of your dead!" The two soldiers looked at him. "You're 'avin' us on, aren't ya mate?" said the first soldier in disbelief. "I never lie," informed the old man, "so if you two can't heed severe warnings, then be it on your heads!" concluded the man, with a look of anger and disgust on his face. The second soldier put down his rifle as the old man began walking again. Once the man had gone, the second soldier said, "You know, maybe he was right?" "Hah! Cobblers!" the first soldier commented. But however, before the two soldiers could resume walking, the pool bubbled up and in a flash something jumped out. The soldiers didn't even have time to run. Elsewhere the old man could here their screams of pain rise and then fade. He paused, and then bitterly commented, "Fools! Idiots!" The man resumed walking onto the waste plains where he vanished into thin air.
Back in the TARDIS, the Doctor watched one of the panels on the central consol carefully. "Ok, we're just landing now," he informed Martha, rubbing his chin. The TARDIS made a wheezing-groaning sound. Outside it materialised in a wooded area, shrouded in mist, the trees leafless. Inside the Doctor and Martha were talking. "Ok Doctor, where have we landed?" asked Martha. "Just be patient!" said the Doctor as he punched something up on one of the displays, "Ah, come." And so he beckoned on Martha. Matha came and the Doctor pointed at the screen. "That'll tell you!" he informed her. On the screen was a readout:
========== Location: ALRAXIAR IV
Type: Planet
>Class: Bio Class
>Star: Alraxiar Major
>Details: The most advance of the three inhabited worlds in the Alraxiar system (Alraxiar III, Alraxiar IV and Alraxiar VI). It is home to an intelligent humanoid race, the Alraxians, who number at roughly 6,000 million. There has only been one extra-terrestrial induced ecological disater on the planet: This happened when a white dwarf star strayed too close the Alraxiar system, altering the overall gravitational field rendering Alraxiar V unihabitable, wiping out 85% of all life on Alraxiar VI, nearly rendering Alraxiar III unsuitable for life and on Alraxiar IV, caused havoc with it's ecological system, ruining the economy on the planet and ultimately driving the Alraxians to war for 11 years (Earth years) amongst themselves as anarchy took foothold in various places.
>Atmosphere: 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, 0.88% various inert gases, 0.1% water vapour & 0.02% Carbon Dioxide. ==========
"New feature, saves me explaining everything all the time," said the Doctor after Martha had finished reading. "Right, a bit like Earth this planet," responded Martha. "Anyway!" began the Doctor, "That's not good enough for me, I want to see it for myself! Come on Martha we're having a little walk we are!" he declared. Soon, both the Doctor and Martha had put on outdoor coats. "Alright then, let's go!" said the Doctor and they both stepped out of the TARDIS.
"Hey, a forest," commented Martha as she observed her surroundings. "Hey, a bog," said the Doctor as he looked down at a pool next to the TARDIS, "well, we shouldn't let that detain us, come on Martha." So, the Doctor and Martha began walking through the woods and towards the wastelands. However, the pool began to bubble and stir. The Doctor and Martha continued to walk through the woods calmly, unaware that something had just jumped out of the pool and had begun to follow them. "...so I'm not the first person to travel with you then?" concluded Martha. "No, not really. In fact I've travelled with so many people I've lost count!" the Doctor replied. Martha gave a slight chuckle. In the meantime, the creature was slowly and carefully stalking the pair, breathing heavily as it did so, occasionally growling, and the two walkers unaware of its presense, especially as it hid behind trees whenever any of them looked behind. "You know Martha, I can swear we're being followed by something," said the Doctor. "Someone," corrected Martha. "Something! I have an 18th sense about these things!" informed the Doctor. "Then what?" asked Martha. "Somehow I think we'd rather not know but are going to find out anyway in some hideous manner!" the Doctor replied, morbidly. Martha remained calm, but the Doctor was getting tense. They carried on walking but the creature, whatever it was, continued to follow.
The Doctor and Martha continued to make their way to the wastelands. The creature continued to follow. Footsteps. A bead of cold sweat trickled down the back of the Doctor's neck, his ears pricking at something Martha had not heard. The creature maintained the pursuit. The Doctor turned his head ever so slightly, his eyes followed suit and something, the creature, caught his eye. "Ok Martha," he said in a worried tone, "don't, whatever you do, look behind you. Oh, and when I say "run"...you RUN!!!" he concluded and began to do just that, taking Martha with him. In the panic she inadvertently turned round for a second and she saw the creature; it was a 7ft tall scaily reptilian like creature. Its features were humanoid and it had 4 small eyes, a large mouth with rotting teeth and a big black tongue. It had claws on its hands and feet and it began to chase the pair, breaking into a run.
The chase continued. However, when the Doctor and Martha reached the edge of the wood/wasteland, they bumped into 6 soldiers in khaki uniforms. "Carefull!" said one of them. This one had sergeant stripes on his uniform, the others didn't. The Doctor apologised, "Oh, so sorry but we're running from that thing!" and he pointed at the beast. "What the...? Alright men! OPEN FIRE!!!" he shouted. The other five men got into a line, the creature advancing on them, and they fired. They did it for a while until the creature dropped dead, at their feet. "What the blazes was THAT?" commented the sergeant. "I wish I knew," replied the Doctor, kneeling down to examine it. It wasn't long however when the sergeant suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the Doctor's back. "Alright sir, you've had your fun now you're coming with us!" insisted the sergeant. The Doctor stood up and turned round, him and Martha held at gunpoint by the troops and the sergeant. "Hey hey hey! What's this about then? Eh?" the Doctor protested. "Now then Sir, you just do as I say, and I won't injure any of you, now move!" ordered the Sergeant and he thrust his gun into the Doctor's back. Soon, the group began moving towards a huge white/grey complex in the distance on the opposite side of the city over at the other end. These movements however, didn't go unnoticed as an allied troop watched in the distance with binoculars. He began to follow them.
Back in the complex the Chancellor and the Master walked into a high-tech control room. "Report General!" the Chancellor ordered. A senior looking officer turned round and walked up to the Chancellor. "Your honour! We've just been monitoring activity in and around the wastelands. A couple of hours ago we lost contact with number 8 patrol and number 9 patrol is just returning with some prisoners, a man and woman, so they say," the General reported. "Very good, have the Sergeant bring the prisoners to the holding cells as per procedure, and have them interrogated," acknowledged the Chancellor. "Yes your excellency," replied the General and so he returned to his desk. Then, the Chancellor turned around and said to the Master, "So, the Alliance has got down to recruiting females, they must be desperate." "You're sure they're not just civilians?" asked the Master. "No civilian dares wander into the wastelands, not ever since we mined it!" replied the Chancellor. The pair of them looked at each other, and then they left the room.
The Doctor, Martha, with their hands up, and their captors approached the gates of the Imperial Military complex. "Ok Doctor, just, who are you?" asked Martha, whispering. "I'm am the Doctor and I am a Time Lord," the Doctor replied. "Time what?" was Martha's response. "Time Lord. Time Lords are an elite group of aristocrats, nobles and what not from the planet of Gallifrey. They came about when we discovered the secrets of time travel," the Doctor explained. "Right..." commented Martha. Then a soldier behind shouted out, "Alright you two, that's enough chatter!" The Doctor glared as he looked behind his shoulder.
It wasn't long until the pair of them arrived at the gates of the complex. "Halt!" called out the Sergeant to the people behind him. A pair of guards approached and examined the group. "Alright, come on through!" called one of them. The group entered the gates of the complex and made their way inside.
Once in the Doctor and Martha put their hands down. They were escorted to a small grey room where an officer was sitting at his desk. The officer looked up and stood up. "Sergeant?" he inquired. "A pair of prisoners Sir. We found them in the wood running parallel to the wastelands," the Sergeant explained. "I see. Now I want these two searched for weaponry and escorted to a cell," the officer then ordered. The soldiers then began to search the Doctor and Martha. From the search they procured some of Martha's university notes, pens, a bag of Jelly Babies from the Doctor and a collection of alien currencies lying around in the Doctor's pockets. "Hmm, harmless enough," observed the officer, "take them to their cell!" The soldiers complied and the prisoners were escorted to their cell.
After walking through the long corridors of the place the group stopped. One of the soldiers opened a door near by and turned round to the captive Doctor and Martha. "Alright you two, in there!" ordered the soldier. The pair of them obliged. "We'll be back later to have you interrogated!" said the soldier. Then, he turned round and slammed the door shut and locked it. The Doctor and Martha looked at each other. "Ok Doctor, what now?" said Martha. The Doctor said nothing and held up his sonic screwdriver, grinning. "What the?!?!" exclaimed Martha. "They said to check our pockets, however I don't think it occured to them to check our footwear!" the Doctor explained, lifting up his right foot, "Though of course, you do have to be willing to endure a little discomfort, especially when you've stashed it in the wrong shoe," and he held up his left shoe, pointing to a little compartment inside the sole. Martha examined the shoe, looked up and the Doctor and commented, "I am now fully convinced you're mad!" "And it took you that long to find out did it?" was the Doctor's reply. There was a brief pause as the pair of them looked at each other, and then they broke out into a quiet laugh.
Outside, the allied soldier quietly made his way inside the base. He crawled underneath the electric fence, and then got up and ran behind a giant gas silo. It was at that moment a pair of black clad guards with visored helmets, radio communications and machine guns came marching past. The soldier observed them until he was sure they'd be out of sight, and he began moving in their direction; towards the main cell bloc where Martha and the Doctor were being held.
The soldier soon made it to outside the cell where the Doctor and Martha were, and then got himself into a safe position and pulled out a pocket radio communicator. On it he flicked a bunch of switches and spoke, "This is Pte Rojan calling Allied Command. Do you read me?" He looked around, and then a reply came through, "Yes Private, report!" "I'm currently inside the Imperial Army Base. I have been tracking a pair of what appear to be non-locals. They have been captured by Imperial Troops and I think that they could be of some use," he reported. "Very well Rojan, but be careful as so you don't get caught!" replied Command. "Understood, out!" said Rojan, and he continued to observe the Doctor and Martha.
"Yes General, I shall observe the interrogation. Of course I'll let them do it themselves, they need the practice! Yes, do tell me when it begins, out," said the Chancellor, and then he put the phone down. "Isn't that a bit 'hands on' for someone in your position?" inquired the Master. "Yes, I suppose so, but being a top Field Marshall and a Master Interrogator, I suppose it is a bit, as you say, 'hands on'. But in my position you can do just about whatever, eh?" said Algon. The Master chuckled, "Of course!" he said, grinning. "Anyway, whilst I'm busy, you can brief the engineers on the design specifications of the device," informed the Chancellor. "Of course, I have the main plans in my TARDIS. I shall get them when the time comes," the Master replied. "Good," said the Chancellor, "with this device, we shall finally be able to defeat the Allies, and Alraxiar will be mine!" he continued, before he leaned back, reached over to his drinks cabinet, pulled out a glass and bottle, fill the glass, replaced the bottle and lifted his glass, toasting, "To victory!" and he promptly emptied it. The pair of them relaxed in their chairs when the Chancellor got a message on the intercom, "Your honour, it's time." "Interrogation?" asked the Master. "Of course. You'd better get your design plans ready for the briefing!" was the Chancellor's answer. So the Master left the office and went to his TARDIS. The Chancellor the grabbed his hat, cloak and cane and went off in the direction of the Doctor and Martha's cell bloc.
The Doctor and Martha were in their cell. The Doctor was working on the door with his sonic screwdriver when he heard footsteps. "Someone's coming!" he said and so he went to his bunk and popped the screwdriver in his left shoe. A guard went over to the cell and opened the door. An officer then walked in, "The man, he's to come with me for interrogation. The woman will stay here for the time being." A soldier then walked in and grabbed the Doctor, "With me!" he said. As he was being dragged out, the Doctor turned round, but before he could say anything the soldier dragged him and said, "Come one!" and pulled the Doctor away. The cell door was locked and Martha sat there, speechless.
Outside, the allied soldier looked on. Then, he slowly made his way towards the cell window and pulled out a glass cutter and a hacksaw for the bars.

Chapter Two:
The Doctor was being escorted along a corridor by a pair of soldiers. His hands were shackled and they carried on walking until they reached a door. An officer came along, took and look at the Doctor and said to his men, "Take him inside," and so they did. At that moment the Chancellor came walking along. "Lieutenant!" he called out. The officer turned round and replied, "Yes my Lord?" "Have they taken him in yet?" asked the Chancellor. "Yes Chancellor. They're about to conduct the interrogation," the officer informed. "Ah, very good," said the Chancellor and he and the Lieutenant both walked in, the officer locking the door behind him.
Inside, the Doctor was sat in a chair where a senior looking officer was standing in front of him with a bright light. The officer spoke, "Alrigh', you answer the questions truthfully, an' I promise not to do anythin' to you, understood?" he said, as he paced up and down, chewing something. "Implicitly," acknowledged the Doctor, slightly nervous. "Good, now we'll begin. What is your name?" "I'm called the Doctor!" "Doctor, now then, is that your real name?" "No. My real name...My real name...?" "Now come on! Don't tell me you don't know your own real name?" "Perhaps I don't..." "Right...Now then, you 'ad better not be lyin', or else it's yer 'ed that's going to find itself in a very tight spot!" The Doctor looked on, anxious. At the back the Chancellor observed and turned round to the Lieutenant, "Doesn't know his own name? Let's how this goes," he observed quietly and coldly. The interrogation continued: "Now then, I'll ask again, what is your name?" demanded the officer, glaring at the Doctor sitting in the chair. The Doctor gave no reply. Then, the officer lost his temper, "I SAID ANSWER!" to which he went red in the face with rage. The Doctor looked on pensievely. "The silent type, eh? We 'ave ways of dealin' wit' your sort!" mused the officer, cackling. The Doctor however, sat down, silent. "Ok, now do ya really wan' me to cause some serious damage to ya?" the officer threatened. "No, not really," replied the Doctor, calm. The officer stepped back, looked up and then faced the Doctor again. "Right then, now, what is your name?" the officer inquired, threatening in some way. "Why, The Doctor of course!" said the Doctor. The officer stared, and then looked at nearby Corpral. "I think we'd better forgo the name business," commented the Corpral. "Aye, now let's move on," agreed the Lieutenant, then, he turned back round to the Doctor, "Ok then? Why were you wanderin' 'round the Wastelands then?" The Doctor paused, and then spoke, "Well, me and my companion are travellers you see and we just happened to have wandered into the wastelands somehow," he explained. The Lieutenant stood back, rubbed his chin and then gave his analysis of what the Doctor said, "Hmm, seems genuine enough. Now then, do ya or do ya not work for the Alliance?" The Doctor's reply was, "No, mainly because I don't know who they are." The Lieutenant looked at the Doctor and laughed. "You mean to say you don't know who the Alliance is? I mean, this war may be only confined to a certain area of the planet, but knowledge of what's happenin' is practically universal!" "Well, you can't know everything," retorted the Doctor. The Lieutenant swiveled round and then pointed at the Doctor, "Listen, don't get smart! The last one who did still hasn't recovered from the red 'ot pokers we jabbed at him, and if you want that to happen to you, ya' goin' the right way about it!" Then the Chancellor interrupted for a moment, "That'll do Lieutenant, that'll do!" he said calmly. The Lieutenant turned round and responded, "Understood your honour." The Chancellor smiled and said, "Good, good. Now then, do continue with the questioning." The Lieutenant stood to attention, and then he grabbed a chair, put it near the Doctor, sat on it the wrong way round and then, getting close to the Doctor's face, said, "Now then, where were we? Ah! Now then, tell me everythin' ya know...!" The Doctor looked on.
Back at the cell, Rojan finished off cutting the bars from the window, and then he took out the glasscutter and cut around the edges of the window. After that job was done, he took out a pair of suction cups and pulled out the window. By then he had already attracted Martha's attention, leading her to ask, "Who are you?" in astonishment. "I'm here to set you and your friend free!" he declared as he fumbled with his equipment. "You mean you followed us?" Martha asked. "Yes, I was originally watching that Imperial Patrol, then you two came along, I reported in and my Commanding officer would like to see you. No obligation of course," explained Rojan. Rojan continued to look around amongst his equipment when he found a small device. He picked it up, looked at it and turned to Martha, "Our ticket out of here!" he said. "What about the guards?" Martha inquired. Rojan held up a gun and winked. "Ah!" said Martha, reassured. Rojan made his way to the door, pointed the device to where the lock was and then activated it. There was a click as the door unlocked, and outside the guards' were immediately alerted. "Ok, here goes!" chanted Rojan as the door creeked open. In the guards went, Rojan then lunged at the both, punching them in the face each, knocking them down. Rojan then picked up his equipment and put it all way. Then he looked at Martha again, "Ok, let's RUN!" he shouted. He grabbed Martha's hand and the pair of them fled the cell.
In the interrogation room, the Doctor was thrown to the floor. Towering above him was the Lieutenant. The Lieutenant knelt down and in the Doctor's ear said, "Alright Doctor, just tell me what I want and I'll call the lads off," in a calm, cold and callous manner. "But seriously, I don't know anything about the Allies, or even who you lot are!" groaned the Doctor as he lay helplessly on the cold stone floor. The Lieutenant paused, stood up and clapped his hands. Then, a couple of soldiers picked up the Doctor and forced him onto the chair. "Soften him up lads!" ordered the Lieutenant, his facial expression eeirily remaining the same. The soldiers then began beat the Doctor up. The Chancellor watched, unflinching. The torture carried on for another four minutes when the Chancellor walked over, raised his hand and called out, "Cease! I think our friend the Doctor here has sustained enough punishment for now." The soldiers stood aside, and sitting on the chair was the Doctor, panting and with a black eye and a slighty bloody face. "Thank you Sir!" gasped a relieved Doctor. "Now then Doctor, you must consider yourself lucky. By these lads' standards, that was quite restrained. Now if I let them loose to do their own thing, the damage they're capable of doing isn't worth thinking about!" cautioned the Chancellor, who then looked around at his men and then said, "Alright gentlemen, take the Doctor back to his cell so he can think about his answer, (I'm quite sure he's lying!), and once he has recovered enough, bring him back in here for more questioning! Dismissed!" And so the Doctor was picked up by the two soldiers and escorted out of the room as everyone else got ready to leave.
Elsewhere in the corridor, Rojan and Martha were searching for the interrogation room to find the Doctor. "Are you sure this is way?" asked Martha. "Yes! This was the route I was taken along when I was captured!" assured Rojan. They got up and began walking again, creeping through the corridors cautiously as not to alert the guards. They contiued to walk around until... "Rojan! It's the Doctor!" whispered Martha. There was the Doctor, being carried by the two burly soldiers and followed by the Lieutenant. "Quick, round the corner!" said Rojan, Martha complied. The group headed in Martha's and Rojan's direction slowly, as the pair of them prepared to pounce on the escort party. Rojan looked on as they advanced, "Ok, ready, ready," he paused, "ummm, NOW!" The two of them leaped up. Rojan took out the two soliders and shot them, Martha grabbed hold of the Doctor and in the furore the Lieutenant slinked away and watched as he saw the two soldiers shot and the Doctor get away with Martha and Rojan. Then, he went round the corner to an intercom device, pressed it and said through it, "This is Lieutenant Archon! There is a Security Alert in sector 8-3-niner-0! The latest prisoners have escaped with the aid of an Allied soldier! Be on FULL ALERT!" he ordered. He stood away from the intercom and was approached by a group of black clad, heavily armed guards. He pointed in the direction Martha, Rojan and the Doctor went in and shouted, "They went that away!", pointing as he did so. The guards began their pursuit as the Lieutenant looked on frostily.
At the other end of the complex, the Chancellor entered his office and sat down. He was followed in by two senior officers. "Generals," he began, the Chancellor sat his desk, leaned forward and put his hands together, "Putting aside the issue of the escaped prisoners and the allied soldier, I would like to discuss with you the new project that our scientists and engineers are working on with our visitor." "I have to say I know nothing of the project, your honour," said one of the Generals. "Of course, now Generals, here is what we are planning," acknowledged the Chancellor. Then, Algon reached back into one of the draws and pulled out a large document and put on the tables. The Generals observed it and commented, "Good grief!", "I say!" Then, the second General looked at the Chancellor and said, "My Lord, I have never in my whole life seen anything like this!" The Chancellor smiled and chuckled, "Heh-heh, glad you approve, Gentlemen!" "What do you intend to do with it your honour?" asked the first General. "I, I intend to see its use against the Allies. Now then, our visitor, the Master, says that this will be able to wipe out huge areas in one swipe. Now then, think of the potential?" said the Chancellor, leaning forward, putting down his drink and giving a knowing look towards the two Generals. "A super-weapon...?" said the first General. "Yes," said the Chancellor. The Chancellor sat back down and grinned. The Generals grinned with him. Then, the Chancellor chuckled to himself, the Generals smiling at each other. "Victory!" said one. "Precisely!" said the other. Still smiling, the Chancellor then said, "Gentlemen, dismissed." So, the two Generals left.
At another end of the complex the Master paced up and down his specially built laboratory, thinking. At one end of the room was a glass window, looking into another, darker room. The Master walked up to it and gazed inside. The other room was very dark and utilitarian and functional. It was large and rectangular and had metal gantries on the walls for walking on, each one connected by metal stairs. The gantries effectively snaked round a big pit, at the bottom of which eminated an ominous light-blue glow, giving an essense of warmth to the place, but making it feel very cold at the same time. The Master heard a noise at the back of his lab. He turned round and saw a white coated laboratory assistant holding a clipboard. "What is it?" inquired the Master. "Sir, we'd just like you to look over and verify these calculations, if it's not too much trouble," said the Assistant, obviously nervous. "Bring them over here and I'll look at them," said the Master. The Assistant did as the Master said and handed the Time Lord the clipboard. The Master looked at it carefully, humming as he did so. Then he finished and handed the clipboard back. "Just perfect. Excellent," he told the Assistant. "Thank you Sir," replied the Assistant, and so he went out again. It wasn't even ten seconds when someone else came into the lab. This time it was an official. "Excuse me Sir, the visitors you were expecting have arrived," announced the official. "Show them in!" told the Master. The official went back out, and then came back in followed by six tall hooded figures. "Thank you, you may go," said the Master. The official left and the Master looked at the six figures. He walked over to a nearby table and sat down, as did the figures. "Now gentlemen, the Chancellor doesn't know that I am meeting you, so we'd better keep this discreet and top secret," he said. "It is understood," said one of the figures. "Good, now then, let me show you the plans to the Empire's 'secret' device, which soon shall also be possessed by the Allies," informed the Master and he slapped a huge piece of paper onto the desk and opened it up. The figures looked at the diagram attentively. Then, one of them looked up, "Now, we shall be able to rival the Empire in military strength with this device!" The Master smiled and chuckled, obviously knowing he'd achieved something, something sinister. Whilst the Master discussed the device with the Allied representatives, he nor the delegation knew of the green watcher outside, observing the meeting closely. "Take that device gentlemen, and you'll be signing your own death warrant!" he said, still watching the meeting.
Elsewhere, the Doctor, Martha and Rojan were still making their escape. As the young soldier and Martha carried the Doctor, the Doctor began to speak, albeit incoherently and slurring. "He's regaining lucidity!" said Martha. "Good, hopefully he should be able to walk soon!" replied Rojan, straining under the weight of the Doctor. The three of them ambled across the corridors. "Do we even know where we're going?!?!" said Martha, in panic. "Look! There's a room, we can go in there!" said Rojan, pointing at a door. So, the group went in the room, and locked the door. Once inside they saw a dark grey/black room, lit only by a few lamps and a mysterious blue glow. It was just then the Doctor became lucid again. "Where are we?" asked the Doctor. "Search me!" answered Martha. "Whatever the Empire is working on, it isn't good!" said Rojan. "Well, might as well have a look round the place!" announced the Doctor, getting up, "Come on, follow me!" So, the three of them began to explore the place. "Could it be some sort of industrial facility?" asked Martha. "No, they're usually situated miles from Army Bases for security reasons; a factory would make them more of a target than ever," explained Rojan. "Well, whatever it is, that blue glow is making me curious," said the Doctor, craning his neck as he looked around. "What could it be?" inquired Rojan. "I simply don't know," replied the Doctor, "but I have a hunch." As the group walked they found a set of large tanks with writing on them. "What does it say?" wondered Martha, her view obscured by the dim lighting. The Doctor leaned over at the lettering and read it carefully. "Water, just plain old ordinary boring water," informed the Doctor. "Oh, hardly something big and dangerous then," commented Martha. "I agree, let's get moving again," said the Doctor, and the three of them did just that.
"Thank you gentlemen, this has been a most productive meeting," said the Master, shaking hands with one of the cloaked figures. "General S'Yarin will find this information most useful," said the main representative of the group. "Very good, now I must bid you farewell, and don't get caught!" the Master cautioned. The Master and the figures gave a token bow and then they left the lab. Once they'd gone, the Master gave a chuckle, "Excellent, now they're both playing right into my hands!" Suddenly, he heard a beeping from one of the intruments near the big window. Walking over to the panel, the Master flicked a switch and on a small screen he saw the Doctor, Martha and Rojan. "Well, well, the young male's an Alraxian that's for sure, but the others are in Earth attire," he murmered to himself. Then, the Master paused, thought to himself and then concluded, "Of course, who else would it be? Dressing like humans and bringing them to far away planets." At that, the Master went over to a locker, took out a weapon and holster, strapped it round his waste and then left the room muttering, "This time for sure..."
"Doctor?" said Martha. "Yes Martha?" acknowledged the Doctor. "Don't you get a feeling that we're being watched?" asked Martha. "No, wh..." answered the Doctor, but then he was suddenly cut off. "Stay right where you are, all three of you!" said a commanding voice. "Ok," said the Doctor as he, Martha and Rojan stopped in their tracks. The person from behind walked up to the group, it was the Master, who was holding the weapon in his right hand. "Well well well, Doctor, after all these years, the great survivor!" he chuckled. The Doctor looked upon the Master in surprise and horror. "Of course, out of everyone, if there had to be another survivor, it had to be you!" said the Doctor. "Who are you?!" said Martha. The Master turned round to Martha, then took a couple of steps back. "I, young lady, am usually referred to as 'The Master'" the Master told Martha. "He's a Time Lord, like me," further explained the Doctor. "Time Lord?" asked Rojan. "Time Lords are a select group of people native to the planet of Gallifrey," informed the Doctor. "Of course, Gallifrey itself is long dead as a result of the Last Great Time War, the Doctor and myself being to two sole survivors," said the Master, "but of course, the Doctor has been flatly denying the survival of others, haven't you Doctor?" The Doctor gave a stern look at the Master. "You really do have a nerve don't you Doctor?" said the Master, grinning and chuckling. "What are you doing here?" demanded the Doctor. "Very well, I'll show you. Follow me," replied the Master, so he began walking, ushering the others in his direction.

Chapter Three:
"Any word from Rojan yet?" asked and anxious General S'Yarin. "No Sir," answered the communications officer. "Very well, continue, Captain," said S'Yarin. S'Yarin was a man of average stature, and as would be expected of a General, his hair was thin and greying and his face showed his years and air of authority. He walked away from the communications station and towards a giant 2D map on an equally large table. "30 days, and they've already gained more than 40000 square miles. And with minimum losses too, whilst we're just getting slaughtered," he muttered, leaning over the map. A female officer approached the General with a bunch of papers on a clipboard. "For you, General," she informed him. "Thank you Lieutenant," replied S'Yarin. The General examined the papers with deep scrutiny. "From the de-briefing I assume?" he inquired. "Yes Sir," confirmed the officer. "Excellent, this just might give us the edge we need. Carry on," he said. The Lieutenant complied and went about her duties. Then, the General turned around and called out to an officer at the far end of the room, "Alton, send them in!" he instructed. The officer complied.
Back at the Imperial Compound, the Master was busy showing the Doctor, Martha and Rojan round the facilities they'd just found. The four of them were standing at the top of a tall gantry and down below was a pit that gave an ominous blue glow. "Well Doctor?" asked the Master, "What do you think?" he continued, grinning in a most sinister manner, chuckling away as well. The Doctor peered down into the pit carefully for a few seconds, and got up again. Then, the Doctor turned to the Master, "Of course," he began, "it's a heavy water processing facility. You're making a nuclear bomb," he concluded, displeased. "Well deducted," said the Master, "and what's more, I'm making sure that both sides have the technology!" "You're despicable!" commented the Doctor. "And with great skill too!" acknowledged the Master. Martha and Rojan looked down into the pit as well, examining the pool of water that lay at the bottom. "Martha?" asked Rojan. "Yes?" responded Martha. "What's a nuclear bomb?" asked Rojan, confused. "To put it simply, bad news," said Martha. "Indeed, especially if you're on the business end of one!" interrupted a laughing Master, "Nuclear bombs are the most destructive devices any Level 5 civilisation like this one, can come up with. Just one bomb can wipe out an entire city!" "Hiroshima!" coughed the Doctor. The Master turned round to the Doctor. "Precisely!" he commented. "And you're giving the technology to both sides?" inquired Rojan. "Indeed," said the Master, "and it is for those reasons that I have to do this." The Master set his weapon, and aimed it at the group, "I can't have you telling our friend the Chancellor that I've been giving information to his enemies!" he grinned, "If anyone asks, I'll say you were killed trying to escape!" continued the Master, laughing manically. "He wouldn't!" said Martha. "He would..." corrected the Doctor. Martha's expression was an uneasy one. "Anyway, enough of this mindless banter! Doctor, it was nice knowing you!" interrupted the Master. The Doctor, Martha and Rojan looked on as the Master raised his weapon and laughed manically. "This ought to cut you down to size!" he said sadistically as his three victims awaited their fate. The Master put his finger on the trigger and, before he got a chance to fire, the Doctor suddenly kicked the TCE out of the Master's hand. "Rojan! Martha! RUN!" shouted the Doctor, soon following his companions as they fled. As the Doctor, Rojan and Martha ran, the Master got down onto the floor to pick up his weapon before it fell off the gantry and began to pursue the fugitives.
"Sir! We're detecting movement on the laboratory levels!" informed a security officer to his superior as he monitored a security screen. "Very well, inform the General and check it out!" ordered the superior.
"Yes, understood Colonel," said on the other side of the communications line, "I believe these are the runaways we're after. Pursue them and shoot to kill!" he continued, "They won't leave here alive!"
The Doctor, Martha and Rojan ran hasitly through the corridors of the Imperial Complex as they fled the pursuing guards. "So this is just routine for you Rojan?" asked the Doctor. "Indeed!" replied Rojan. "Same here!" added the Doctor. However, the conversation didn't last long as they all left the building and split up as guards on the grounds pursued them. Martha ran to the perimeter fence, Rojan ran towards the supply sheds wheras the Doctor made his way to a silo range where the Green Watcher observed unnoticed on a high up hill. The Doctor zig-zagged amongst the gas tanks and small sheds as he dodged pursuing guards. As a group of black-clad troopers chased him, the Doctor hid behind a shed, then, he began moving again once they were gone. The Doctor made his way back along the silo range where he spotted a gap in between buildings and a field on the other side. He hesitated for a few seconds, then ran. As the Doctor made his dash along the compound, guards spotted him and began to fire. On the other side in a ditch Martha and Rojan were waiting and soon the Doctor met up with them again. Without much conversation, the three of them slipped underneath the fence and made a break fo the wastelands. The Imperial Guards were following closely behind.
The chase was on, the Doctor, Martha and Rojan climbed over the rocky hills as Imperial Guards fired. The Doctor made it on top of one hill when all of a sudden he stopped, grabbed his back and right leg and collapsed all in 2 seconds. Rojan and Martha without further thought went back to retrieve the Doctor. "Quick, to the Allied Zone!" said Rojan and the pair of them carried the Doctor and hurried off frantically. The guards kept on pursuing the runaways, firing without much concience. Rojan and Martha ran, the gunfire intensified. Soon, against the odds, they'd made it to the Allied zone close by and ran into a small copse nearby. The Imperial Soldiers halted and one of them leaned forward; "Damm it! They've gone into the Allied Zone. Back to base everyone!" he said, and they all fell back.
In the copse, Rojan and Martha laid the wounded Doctor on the floor. "We need to get him back to base, Martha, follow me," said Rojan and they picked up the Doctor again and made their way through the trees. "What'll happen there?" asked Martha as she carried the Doctor. "He'll get medical attention and we'll both be safe. The General wants to know more about you two," explained Rojan. Soon, they arrived at a small wooden shed. "Here it is, Martha. The rest is underground," said Rojan. They then went inside. "Follow!" instructed Rojan, and they made their way down the steps...
