Actually, I'm sure someone somewhere has asked this before, but it's been on my mind recently. Is it possible for the Doctor to regenerate into a woman? In "The Parting of the Ways", the Doctor said something like "I could have two heads or no head". And then the thought just popped into my head, could he regenerate into a woman, or least a woman form, since he isn't technically speaking a "man" either? And then just what in general would happen as a result? I've only discovered the series of late, but it's captured my imagination unlike anything I've ever seen before and I'm totally addicted, and scrambling to read, watch, and listen to anything Doctor Who I can get my hands on. I appreciate the time you're taking to listen to my ramblings.

I shouldn't think it actually possible for the Doctor to regenerate into a woman, but as for in the shape of a woman, I don't know. But anyway, I don't think it's possible for the Doctor to switch gender, like he can't switch species. However, I should think it would be possible for the Doctor to assume the shape of a woman, as Romana managed to assume the shape of different species when she regenerated in 'Destiny of the Daleks'. Emphasis being on the word "shape" here of course.
