If we held an award ceremony for all things Who, in the 'Classic Who' category, to which one individual would you give the [glow=yellow,5,500]Award for Outstanding Contribution[/glow]?
I know it would be easy to insert the name of your favourite Doctor here, so I would ask you to exclude them from the running. ;D
I would present it to Terrance Dicks. As a child whose viewing schedule was dictated by what my parents wanted to watch, I missed a lot of mid-seventies Who, and I have to thank the prolific novelizing of Mr Dicks for keeping me abreast of what I'd missed. It was only much later that I found he was also responsible for a lot of what went on behind the scenes during this period.

Agree with you Tractator. Terrance Dicks was a key part of creating the Doctor Who we all know and love today.

I'd say Robert Holmes.
As a writer he had such talent, and provided some of the finely crafted stories that have defined the show as it is today. As script editor he helped direct the series to an area where it was most popular, and is regarded to this day as one of the greatest writers the series has ever known.

Methinks Terry Nation. He was responsible for creating the Daleks, which helped the show to become popular and run for as long as it did. I'd say his best script was the one for 'Genesis of the Daleks', which is (in my opinion) not only the best Tom Baker story but the best Doctor Who story of all time. I think he deserves a lot of credit for his contributions. On the other hand I'd also nominate Sydney Newman, the man responsible for the show's existence.

I would like to say Terrance Dicks, but he really reduced the number of episodes on Who. Not sure that was a good idea. Most of Troughtons were 6 episodes or more, but Dicks for the most part went for 4 parters. I would have to go for Robert Holmes.

Wow, I can't choose. I may not be allowed to do this, but: I vote for everyone who has ever helped continue doctor who, may that be a camera man, an author, a director, a doctor themself, etc. WELL DONE DOCTOR WHO *Amazing Applause*
