In a Doctor Who Magazine, they made a list of all the Doctor Who episodes & the order of favorite.
Does anyone have a list of their favorite stories?
My favorite stories are only so because I either read the book or seen the episode. Most of the first & second are from the books.Mine are from each Doctor are (with comments)...
1) Marco Polo (I only read the book, but I loved it over any other story) 2) The Daleks' Masterplan (a long story, but really good) 3) The Evil of the Daleks (best of the whole 2nd Doctor era) 4) The War Games (a little long, but an enjoyable read) 5) The Three Doctors (this really is the only one as I didn't really enjoy the 3rd Doctor era 6) Genesis of the Daleks (Daleks rock!) 7) Destiny of the Daleks (Romana's regeneration sequence! need we say more) 8) Logopolis (The Doctor's regeneration sequence! Need we say more) 9) Enlightenment (cool concept of space travelling sail ships) 10) The Five Doctors (seeing all the old characters back made this a fun show to watch) 11) The Trial of a Time Lord (wish I could have seen this story, only read the novels) 12) Dragonfire (first Ace. Favorite companion of the 7th Doctor) 13) Remembrance of the Daleks (Most favorite story from the 7th Doctor as it got me into the show) 14) Ghost Light (creepy, but kept me guessing) 15) Survival (final episode) 16) The Empty Child (this is the only time I wanted to "behind the couch" as the show just really REALLY creeped me out. The Doctor Dances was good, but the first half was better)
Does anyone else have a list? I can't remember most of the stories, but these are the ones that stood out to me as the best. This is of course just an opinion.

Here's my list of classic stories... Marco Polo - The audio is great, I just wish I could have seen the televised version The Tenth Planet - Possibly the first(?) and best 'base under seige' story. The Invasion - Cybermen on the streets of London - how cool is that? The Web Of Fear - Lethbridge-Stewart's debut - 'nuff said! Spearhead from Space - Hooray! the newly-formed UNIT's first outing! Autons! Lots of men running round with guns, and plenty of explosions! (and all in glorious colour...)The Daemons - The wonderfully batty Miss Hawthorn and the scary Bok ("Chap with wings, there. Five rounds rapid.") The Three Doctors - The first time they pulled all the Doctors together, and Omega makes a grand entrance. Genesis Of The Daleks - Davros' debut, yikes! Pyramids Of Mars - Bernard Archard as the scary shadowy-eyed Marcus Scarman/Sutekh. Very Hammer Horror. The Brain Of Morbius - A monster made from odds 'n' sods, with a scary grating voice. New trousers, please! Earthshock - Although Beryl Reid as a geriatric freighter captain is probably scarier than the Cybermen themselves. The Caves Of Androzani - Faceless killer androids with the ability to liquify their targets and the hideously disfigured Sharaz Jeks (with Peri's heaving bosom as an unexpected bonus ).<- can I say that? Revelation Of The Daleks - The return of Davros (well, okay...some of him). The Ultimate Foe - The evil Valeyard unmasked. Remembrance Of The Daleks - Coal Hill School revisited and the Special Weapons Dalek (awesome!) Ghost Light - Bizarre but atmospheric.

I've got too many favorites to count for different reasons, but my favorite for each Doctor is as follows
Marco Polo - It's a great shame that this story is gone because a lot of other Hartnell storys can be long winded, especially The Web Planet. I loved the audio for this, and read the book many years ago although I still have it somewhere
Fury From the Deep - Another one of those that unfortunately has been lost and that has a really excellent audio. The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear run close seconds, but this one takes the cake.
Inferno - A really dark and serious story and sets itself well over some of the other third doctor productions that come later where it's much lighter material. Sorry Jo Grant fans, but Liz kicks butt.
The Talons of Weng-Chiang hands down although City of Death runs second...along with Genesis of the Daleks...and Pyramids of Mars...The Ark in Space...and a great many more although The Horns of Nimon does NOT fall on that list.
The Caves of Androzani some good storys for the fifth doctor era but this one is head and shoulders above all of them
Vengeance on Varos - This story is as good as Timelash is bad.
The Curse of Fenric - Excellent story, even better on DVD. Rememberance runs a close second
Shada Beats out the TV movie I'm afraid, although the TV movie is watchable.
The Empty Child I've only seen the last half of this season so far but this one was good and creepy. The Unquiet Dead seems like a good one but I'll reserve judgment until I see it.
And haven't seen The Christmas Invasion yet so can't really judge.

I can't say this with absolute certainty because there are so many stories I haven't seen for years but my favourite for each doctor are as follows
An Unearthly Child: because no other story has quite the same effect on you and because without it think how empty life would seem now. The Tomb Of The Cybermen: there maybe some missing stories better but I am poor and therefore have not heard them and this is brilliant. A classic. The Green Death: because it has giant maggots in it. The Talons Of Weng-Chiang: a superb mix of horror and sci-fi and Tom Baker never got better than this. The Caves Of Androzani: the best Doctor Who ever with the best doctor bowing out on a high. The Twin Dilemma: I know what you're thinking but as far as I'm concerned this is very, very good Doctor Who, fun. The Greatest Show In The Galaxy: the best McCoy story by a mile. The Movie: Not much choice here, really as I'm not including audios. Rose: a good opening episode to the new show. Eccleston is better here than in any other episodes. Maybe it was the anticipation that made me think it so good. I remember shaking as I sat down to watch it, back in March 05, I can't believe it. (I'm from the UK so saw it on original transmission).
I am not including a Tennant episode yet but The Christmas Invasion was superb.
If I think of any brill stories I missed I'll let you know.

I would have expected more Peter Davison stories on davisonera's list, for obvious reasons. Though of course that's not the full product so why am I rambling?
