TV WEEK (Australia) of April 16-22 2022 has a piece on Legend of the Sea Devils as it comes on ABC TV Plus on Easter Monday April 18 at 7:30pm. Entitled "Dr Who's Legend of the Sea Devils" it says: "When Doctor Who lands on Earth in the 1800s, she's not surprised to find pirates patrolling the seas. This is, after all, when swashbuckling privateers took to the waves in search of plunder. But what she doesn't expect is what else is lurking beneath the ocean's surface. The Sea Devils had been the rulers of our planet before the rise of humankind. Now, the monstrous amphibious Earth reptiles want their title back. Can The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) join forces with an unexpected buccaneer to save the day - or is history about to be changed forever?" This is accompanied by a picture of Jodie as the Doctor wearing a multicoloured scarf and this is a promotional picture of her from Resolution.

I got to see this on my new ipad which I recently got. Written by Ella Road and showrunner Chris Chibnall, the former marking her Who debut. Also marking her Who debut is the director of this special Haolu Wang. As indicated in the title this has the Sea Devils and it marks their NuWho debut. A pre-showrunner Chibnall had earlier brought the Sea Devils' cousin the Silurians into NuWho when he wrote them in 2010's The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood. Shared the Doctor's disbelief on seeing the pirate outfit that Dan was wearing. The Doctor referenced Stephen King movies. Looking up on TARDIS Wiki, King previously got referenced in 2006's Love & Monsters when Elton Pope made a Stephen King quote. The TARDIS goes underwater when the Doctor opens the door but she and Yaz are protected with the oxygen bubble. This is not the first time that the TARDIS is seen able to do this underwater as this was shown in 2014's Listen. Very shocking when that sea monster came out of nowhere and grabbing the TARDIS with the Doctor and Yaz in her. Fun hearing 13 shouting "Geronomino" something that 11 likes to express. River although not by name gets mentioned when the Doctor mentioned her wife. This has been a fun romp of an adventure marking the Sea Devils' NuWho debut and should not be surprised the sacrifice that Ji-Hun made because as he says this isn't his time as this dealt with the Sea Devils once and for all. Heartwarming final scene with the Doctor and Yaz at the beach as the Doctor making a wish that what they have at the moment could go on forever. If only.
The Coming Soon trailer to Jodie's finale shows Daleks, Ashad and the Cybermen and Kate but the biggest surprise came when Tegan and Ace turned up here.
To be honest I instantly picked up on Sophie Aldred as Ace but not Janet Fielding as Tegan probably due to the quality of the screen on my ipad and didn't know it was Tegan until I looked it up a little later.
Incidentally the last time the Sea Devils were in classic Who it was in 1984's Warriors of the Deep, a story with Tegan meaning that Tegan narrowly missed an encounter with the Sea Devils again with her upcoming appearing in the Jodie finale.
