Penultimate chapter of Flux.
Yaz, Dan and Jericho are in 1904, three years since they were sent back in time to 1901.
They made their entrance in Mexico where they came down on a place by a rope.
Yaz came down smoothly while Dan had a crashing drop. Reminds me of a similar drop by Strax when the Paternoster Gang made their entrance to help out the Twelfth Doctor and Clara in Deep Breath.
When we first see Farquhar and Prentis (an identity adopted by the Grand Serpent) in 1958 and they were talking about a new taskforce that just got established.
It was soon confirmed but I immediately knew that this taskforce is UNIT.
It conveniently avoided addressing what UNIT stood for as it depends whether events takes place in the 20th or 21st century.
The next we see Farquhar and Prentis was in 1967 at UNIT HQ.
We briefly hear the voice of a corporal. I didn't have a good listen to this voice so I was surprised to read afterwards that this was the late Nicholas Courtney as Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart with the audio clip coming from the 1971 story Terror of the Autons.
Farquhar said that Corporal Lethbridge-Stewart was brought in after missing the whole thing at the Post Office Tower and that is a reference to the 1966 story The War Machines.
The War Machines is a story that came before The Invasion, the story that introduced UNIT but The Invasion established it as a pre-existing organisation.
Surprised on seeing the TARDIS in UNIT HQ as she was left abandoned at that village.
Farquhar sure met his demise when he scanned Prentis which showed that he is not human.
The manner of Prentis killing his victims as demonstrated first with Farquhar with him expiring as a serpent comes out of its mouth.
This serpent then absorbs itself on Prentis.
Funny in 1904 when Yaz, Dan and Jericho met with the hermit in Nepal the message he gives them is "Fetch your dog."
Yaz and Dan immediately knew the dog is in reference to Karvanista.
They sent a message to Karvanista by painting a big message at the Great Wall of China, a message that Karvanista does indeed received.
The Great Wall of China was previously seen in Doctor Who in the 1964 story Marco Polo.
More recently it was referenced in Knock, Knock in 2017.
The manner of Yaz, Dan and Jericho delivering their message to Karvanista is not dissimilar to Amy and Rory delivering their message to the Doctor in a cornfield in Let's Kill Hitler.
In 1988 Prentis meets a man called Millington about succeeding him as the chair of UNIT's oversight committee.
Millington saying that Prentis will get that job over his body.
I knew at that moment Millington truly asking for that as Prentis soon kills Millington afterwards and gets that job.
Yaz, Dan and Jericho had been travelling on a ship and what a surprise when Joseph Williamson all of a sudden turned up to meet them.
Ultimately they meet up with Williamson at the tunnels in Liverpool.
Knew before hand thanks to the trailer to this that Kate was going to be here and it was of her meeting with Prentis.
Kate tells Prentis that she knows there is something off with him and the beginning of this exchange established the moment when UNIT's operations got suspended.
The suspension had been revealed before in the 2019 New Year's Day Special Resolution also written by Chibnall.
After this meeting, Kate barely escaped with her life when a bomb exploded her house.
Osgood gets a mention as Kate tells her by phone that she has to go dark.
Things are coming together with Karvanista meeting Bel while Vinder meets Diane.
Meanwhile we first see the Doctor in a field of Angels and soon brought into the Division to meet that woman.
What a surprise the woman is revealed to be Tectuan, the explorer who found the Doctor as a child.
Sensed that Tectuan was going to meet her demise the moment Swarm and Azure came in.
Exciting closing moments showing the alliance between the Grand Serpent and the Sontarans with the latter making their attacks and the cliffhanger marked with the Doctor on the brink of meeting her own demise.
