Being in Canada, I only now was able to see the finale of season 33. In my opinion, Utopia, The Sound of the Drums, & Last of the Time Lords may very well be the best episodes in the shows history. I never really thought of the Master as being overly creepy or scary, but these episodes really brought out the terror for me.
I really enjoyed it. Too bad that I found out what happens at the end by reading the synopsis of this site. My stupidity. But the effect of the surpise reveal of the "true" identity of the Face of Boe wasn't lost. The look of Martha's & The Doctor's face was priceless.
And the ending? I have no idea how that happened. Obviously explained in the next episode, which unfortunately probably won't be able to see until the next year.
Just my two cents worth of opinion.
Can't wait for Torchwood to start in two weeks on CBC.

The third one seemed a bit . . . how can I say? "Clap your hands everybody! Clap your hands and Tinkerbell won't die!" My hubby and I gave each other a look that said, "Oh, c'monnnnn." If everybody thinks "Doctor" at the same time, he'll get young again? What was that about? I don't know.
I did think the lil'-ol'-Doctor figure in the cage was rather adorable. Nicely done CGI for him and the little utopia-folks in the spheres.
I did rather like the Master's death scene. The feeling that the Doctor was now truly alone forever came through quite well. The fact that he was willing to put up with The Master in perpetuity shone a little torch on the Doctor's buried feelings about his solitude. It almost seemed as if the Master's presence was a seeming repreive from his exile. From his doom of wandering in solitude. It's been penance, in a sense, for the lives lost at the end of the Time War. However, it is now revealed, really, to be a self-imposed exile. How many times has he come close to death? Now we know that he could, really, just . . . die. The fact that he won't allow himself to, that he feels the necessity to save the Earth over and over again, is in some way making reparation for the loss of Gallifrey.
My 2p.

Awful, the worst story ever! Well maybe it beats Time and the Rani. I don't know where to begin. John Simms poor acting? the poor plot, the morbid depressing plot points of the human race ending up as the Toclafane? The predictable ending of the Master's ring or whatever being found? the reset button? the people calling on the Doctor's name? The plot points that RTD forgot to put in the script as he admitted in DWMagazine? the Doctor turning into a midget old widgett? What a great mistep? Or how about the awful idea of Jack being ...well, what he turns into...totally garbage. I'm worried. AndI've just seen the Children in Need special with Peter Davison and David...downright garbage with such poor acting. I know David can act, just look at how brilliant he was in HUMAN NATURE/FAMILY OF BLOOD and just about all the others (mind you, NEW EARTH was crap). I'm sersiouly worried. I think it's time for a new director, new producer, heaven's sake new writers, and a new Doctor...and i've never felt that a new Doctor was in need...
