Good to be back on the forums. =] Now, my opinions on tonight's episode... Firstly, the plot started well enough. The Doctor is a regular human, and we have no idea why. The mysterious theme is set up, and once Martha steps into the room, it quickly becomes clear she still knows who he really is. It flows smoothly, the Doctor being 'John Smith', and Martha attempting to get him to 'open the watch' at the appropriate time. Of course, it doesn't happen that easily, and the kid who snatches it, well, it seems as if it's foreshadowing an event in the next episode, especially when Martha passes him and he recognises her. The aliens seemed really cliched to me. I thought it was all the usual; "I'm afraid you cannot leave!", and the typical generic ray gun. It's intriguing to see what they're planning, though. They seem to be after the Doctor, but for a reason we haven't been told yet. I have to say the acting of the student, Jeremy Baines, was fantastic, especially with that creepy stare of his. Great choice for the role. Well, I can't think of much else to say, seeing as I'm generally bad at reviews. Oh, and did anyone else notice the reference to Remembrance of the Daleks? I sure did.

Hi, I'm new here but I had to register and post this because I've been trawling the web since this episode aired and it's driving me mad. Hopefully somebody else knows what I'm thinking of.
Nice episode. Anybody else think the premise was familiar? I am sure I've read a book - probably seventh Doctor, maybe with Ace but it might have been Bernice or someone else - where the Doctor forgets who he is and hides in a public school just before the first world war, with his companion the only person who remembers. I think the reasons might have been different, but the setting was remarkably similar, including a scene with the boys practising with machine guns. It also had an electronic encyclopaedia which had information about who survived the first world war (which changed after events), flash-forwards to the war itself, and a nuclear explosion.
Please tell me I'm not imagining this! I've looked at the blurbs for every seventh doctor novel I can find and none of them match.

Okay now I feel stupid, the book has the same title as the episode... and the same author.
At least I wasn't imagining it!
I didn't catch the reference to Remembrance of the Daleks. Perhaps I will when I re-watch tomorrow for the review.
