So David Tennant's Doctor as we all know was dressed as below for his first season: There have been some recent press photos of The Doctor with Martha looking like this: Granted he still has his brown over-coat, but are we to expect a costume change for season 3? If so, do people think this is a good idea? Personally I would have prefered if Tennant wore the same as in his first season for his whole duration as the Doctor.

Personally I'm not too sure about the blue suit, it just seems a bit too loud really.
I'm not too bothered about a costume change, I think as long as the brown overcoat coat stays it kind of ties it all together.
Mind you it's not that uncommon for the Doctor to have a change of clothes; Jon Pertwee had many different outfits when he played the Doctor.

The suit, it's...blue. Couldn't they have stayed with the previous outfit?

I don't particularly mind the new clothes. Who cares what they wear as long as the acting's good.

You know he's got a point there.

Yeah it is all about the acting true, but why the change of clothes? I quite liked his original outfit.

I quite like the blue with the brown coat. Looks ok for my eyes.

I quite like the blue with the brown coat. Looks ok for my eyes. At least they don't hurt mine either, unlike Colin Baker's outfit. ;D

Stupid question I guess but why does the Doctor have to wear the same outfit (more or less) in every adventure? I know they made a point of mentioning it a couple of times - "What's wrong with this jumper?" etc. - but aren't we sophisticated enough to recognise our hero if he wears something that fits in with the time and place he's visiting? We didn't look at Rose in 1860s clothes and say "Who's she? Is she new?"

It's just the way the show's always been. You don't have Star Trek characters wearing khaki pyjamas one week and red and inidgo pullovers the next do you?

Kirk's old gold round neck (Wolverhampton Wanderers) shirt and his green v-neck? But point taken, tradition is a big part of it all.

For the Doctors 1, 3, 4 and 7, each of them did experience a change of costume in some way or another. The most subtle changes I'd say apply to William Hartnell's Doctor.

They should stick to a certain style and format, but small changes within that are fine.
