It's established that Tennant will last longer than Eccleston, but how much longer? Will he last for two seasons? Three seasons? Ten seasons? Will the BBC Cancel the series again after only three seasons? How long?

If the BBC cancel Doctor Who again I'd be shocked. They haven't had a rating hit like it on Saturday evenings for donkeys years. Anyone can tune in and watch the show now. I don't think Tennant will stay any more than three years. Although he does love the show it seems that he is very career conscious.

Three seasons total would be a good run, and its in keeping with most of the other Doctors. We just need to ensure that either at the end it gets a good send off or they find a way to give him a new set of lives.

I think Tennant should stay on for 3 Seasons in total. Then if I had my way his successors would stay on for 7 seasons, 5 seasons and 3 seasons respectively but that's another story.

Why do you choose 7, 5 and 3 seasons respectively?

Why do you choose 7, 5 and 3 seasons respectively? If Tennant leaves in 2008, I worked out the show would end in 2023, then careful scheduling would have the last episode broadcast near or on the 23rd of November of that year, the 60th Anniversary of the show.

The current rumour is that he is playing hardball over doing a third series by saying he'll only do it if they film more of it in London.

We know Tennant's still staying for now so let's just see what happens.

Just a thought, when Tennant finally does leave who would you like to replace him?

Just a thought, when Tennant finally does leave who would you like to replace him? Someone a bit calmer, not so manic (although I do adore Tennant in the role this character trait has never really worked for me). Ideally someone like Hugh Laurie.

Marc Warren, in Love & Monsters and better in Hustle, would make a good doctor but unlikely now.

I think Marc Warren would be great.
Then again, so would Adrian Lester (also of Hustle fame), although I've read somewhere he's heading to make it big in Hollywood.
Views on a black Doctor, anyone? I've said somewhere before that every so often the controversy of having a female Doctor crops up, but what about a black one? I suppose the argument against it would be that while a gender change is feasible during regeneration, a change of ethnic origin isn't. We know black Time Lords do exist (doesn't Don Warrington play one in one of the Big Finish stories?).

What I really meant, was; why not 5, 5, 5 seasons respectively, or 5, 3, 7 or 5, 7, 3 or 4, 4, 7 etc. From the way you wrote it, you made it seem as though they should only do 7, 5 and 3 seaasons each respectively.
