Not as good as The Empty Child but a close second.

Not as good as The Empty Child but a close second. I'll agree with you there. Lacked the creepiness that the first part had but still a fantastic episode. The resolution was fantastic, and so well played by Christopher Eccleston

This story and 'Horror of Fang Rock' contrast. The thing is in this story none of the guest characters die whilst in 'Fang Rock' all of the guest characters die. Yet both stories are equally as creepy and suspenseful in some respects.

4/5 like the first part. The Doctor seemed a bit jealous.

Good episode. It was nice to see a Doctor Who where "everybody lives" for once! I really felt bad for the poor little kid, even though he was creepy. I liked the young girl who turned out to be his mother. I was surprised to find out she was older than she looked. The one part I didn't like much was Captain Jack. He's just too perfect. His ship is too powerful, it seems he can do anything. He put the Doctor and the Tardis to shame. Also, I think the actor is a little bland as Captain Jack. They should have gotten someone with more character, I think. Still, an enjoyable episode, 4 out of 5 for me.

In my opinion this episode combined with Part One make up the best TV story in Christopher Eccleston's short tenure. Suitably creepy with a dash of subtle humour make this an outstanding story indeed!

5/5 from me.
I loved the two episodes. and the introduction of captain jack, who was so popular gets his own spinoff.
good writer for a good story for a good doctor. ;-)

I rewatched The Doctor Dances and the Ninth Doctor says that he is metaphorically on fire. Coincidentally I also rewatched the movie Not Another Happy Ending in which my wife Karen Gillan says the same things about another character but in this case it was in relation to the state of his health.
