Poor. Nothing happens. Its just a slotter to fit into the later stories. Bored me at the time, and its an episode I watched once on DVD and now skip.

I'll say three out of five. Adam really got on my nerves at times, a bit too whiny (although the worst of that was his final scene in 'Dalek') The plot was perhaps a bit dull and all the episode really acts as is a prelude to the final two episodes, which also helped to explain the title which I never understood at the time. One of my favourite parts had to be the cameo by Tamsin Greig. Such a great performer, (loved her in 'Black Books' but that's for the non-who section) So it's good but with major flaws. An interesting story that makes a little more sense when you've seen the end on the series Would be a two if not for the lovely Tamsin

On reflection, this episode seems to be nothing more than a filler for the series finale. I think...

Exactly and not a very good one.

Could've been better written wouldn't you say? Though in the end someone's got to be at the bottom of the pile, and 'The Long Game' is that someone.

It needed a dedicated plot rather than just being a poorly written foreshadowing story. Its one story that continues to make me miss the old longer episodic style of the show. If The Long Game had been 2-3 episodes in length and fleshed out better it could have been a more interesting story. As it is, its dull, rushed and not very well written (as you say).

From what I've seen of this episode I think it could've been so much more than what we have now. In fact I think it has the appearance of being written by a 7 year old child.

2/5. Probably the worst episode of the season. Quite dull.

I liked this one better than most people it seems. It wasn't one of the better episodes, but it was at least average. I thought Adam's less than noble actions were funny. I think most people would try to use time travel for their own advantage, given the chance. I liked the seemingly naive office girl who turned out to be a gun toting anarchist. I wasn't expecting that. I think this episode stands fine on its own, and is not merely "filler" or "foreshadowing". I give it 3 out of 5.

The Long Game is an episode that is not included in The Dalek Collection because it did not fit its criteria. However bits of The Long Game is in the release due to the Next Time trailer of it at the end of Dalek and also scenes of The Long Game is in the reprise that starts off Bad Wolf. In The Dalek Collection, Bad Wolf comes straight after Dalek which means for the viewer, instead of seeing The Long Game in full after seeing the said Next Time trailer, they saw overview of the episode in the said reprise that begins Bad Wolf. So for an episode that was not eligible to be in The Dalek Collection it is amazing how much of The Long Game got to be in it.

Saw the full version of Doctor Who Confidential 1.7 The Dark Side, the corresponding episode to The Long Game and it talked about the history of villains in Doctor Who.
When it came to the Master, Russell T Davies said that one day someone will bring back the Master because it is such an irresistible idea.
The Master did indeed come back and he was brought back by none other than Russell T Davies himself!
After all he said himself it was an irresistible idea.
