According to the novel Time of Your Life, which takes place immediately after The Trial of a Time Lord, the Doctor returns Mel to his future self. She was taken out of time by the Time Lords during a still unrecorded adventure taking place on the planet Oxyveguramosa.
I have added a continuity note about it on this book entry.

Mel meets the Doctor for the first time in the PDA Business Unusual.
As to Mel's final end, depends on whether you follow the Virgin Novels or the BBC novels. In the MA Head Games, the 7th Doctor picks up a stranded Mel and returns her to Earth. But in the PDA Heritage, the 7th Doctor finds that Mel somehow ended up in the far future on a desolate Earth colony planet named Heritage, where she was killed by enemies of her husband. It's possible this particular timeline was erased by the events of Sometime Never.., but it's not explicitly stated.
Oh, and the MA Millenial Rites also takes place between BU and Trial of a Time Lord (right, Dom?)

Millennial Rites takes place some time after Business Unusual, but before the segment of The Trial of a Time Lord featuring the Vervoids. The other audios and novels featuring the 6th Doctor and Mel -- starting with the Quantum Archangel which clearly states so -- takes place after Terror of the Vervoids.

Hopefully she dies horribly. You're evil, both of you, but I must agree with you there! ;D

In Dragonfire, she joins Sabalon Glitz. Future Mel was with Glitz during the Trial. Hope this helps.

As far as we know with the classic series, Future Mel travels with Sabalon Glitz on the Nosferatu 2. What happens as far as audios and book series, I have absolutely no idea.

TV Series: Mel joins Sabalom Glitz, for some unknown reason - just for the heck of it? They fly off in Glitz's craft, the Nosferatu 2. New Adventures: Glitz dumps Mel off on an abandoned planet (and who wouldn't? ), whence she is found by 'Dr. Who' and 'Jason' from the Land of Fiction. So she is whisked in to one last adventure with the Doctor where a) she is shocked to find he has twisted Ace into 'New Ace', b) he has gone slightly dark since she last saw him and c) he psychically manipulated her to leave the TARDIS once he'd found Ace and started his cosmic game of chess with Fenric. She demands to be returned to Pease Pottage immediately, and bitterly. Here Mel is even more cipher than the TV show. BBC Books: Mel finds her way, presumably on the Nosferatu 2, although it is never stated for sure, to the planet Heritage where she marries, has a child and is murdered for reasons too elaborate to go into here. There is a side-plot at this point in the BBC books of companions being killed or taken out of time (Sam Jones, Sarah Jane, Harry, Jo Grant etc.), and the implication is that Mel's timeline here is one of those forced in this situation and ultimately averted when things fold back up. Big Finish: Mel is returned to Pease Pottage - it never explains how, except it happens after her adventures with Glitz on the Nosferatu 2. All of these are reasonably simple to slot together if you think Mel goes from the Nosferatu to being dumped back on Earth by the Doctor. However, some way she finds a method of returning to space - don't ask me that, it's never said - and she finds her way to Heritage and to death. The real continuity glitch here is that Ace doesn't comment on Mel's death in Head Games when they remeet but Ace is hardly in a place to note it then after her own 'death' in Loving the Alien. Perhaps she assumes by Mel's presence the timelines have been messed around or something. But it's odd that she never mentions it at all, because of her bitter reaction to the death in Heritage. Clear as mud? -Jeremiah Ecks, who loves unwinding continuity glitches.

Apparently in the novels it was hinted at that Glitz liked to force himself on the girls! JB
