Ok, we all know what happens here, Cybermen attempt to destroy the Earth, the Doctor stops them, Adric dies at the end.
When I first saw this late 2005 I thought it to be rather good. Part One was especially suspensful, though it would have been more so if I didn't know what was going to happen, there you go. But it is a well made story overall and I happen to like it.
Now, what do you think? Over to you!
P.S. I have a theory as to why the credits for Part Four were silent: it's so not to disturb fans celebrating Adric's death by playing the Doctor Who theme tune for 1 and a quater minutes! ;D

Ah this is a nice story, great tension and a nice reveal to the Cybermen at the end of episode one.
Adric's death was well done and although I know he's not really liked all that much, it was quite touching, it emphasised the quality of the fifth Doctor which showed he couldn't always win.

Ah this is a nice story, great tension and a nice reveal to the Cybermen at the end of episode one. I am of course glad to say I agree with that one there. I'd say that the editing was a stroke of genius when it came to the scenes involving the androids and troopers. However it hasn't escaped my attention that some people are questioning why the Cybermen used androids. My theory is that the Cybermen were too busy with other stuff and didn't want to advertise their presence. Oh yes I remember now, how can a bomb that small blow up an entire planet?

Did you know that if you buy 'Earthshock' on DVD you can watch part 5?
What I mean is that you go into special features, next page then click on 'Episode 5' you can watch it there. Basically it's a spoof where Adric is played by a lump of clay, which I think did a better job than Matthew Waterhouse, even if it was only on screen for a few seconds!
This might not be available on Region 1 and 3-4 discs, though then again it might. We'll have to see.

no idea, but I enjoyed this story though that (famousish?) actress with the red hair was totally not right for the role she played. In the Commentry we are told she didn't even understand the story one bit.
I also thought the Cybermen shined in this story!

In the Commentry we are told she didn't even understand the story one bit. For the record her name was Beryl Reid (not sure if I spelt that right . She was indeed really rather famous but that was some years before, as Janet Fielding says in the DVD commentary, she was reduced to appearing on quiz shows by this point in her career.

From what I heard the red hair was a wig.

She was woefully miscast in Earthshock but JNT wanted a big name and she was a big name...once! JB
