No ones done a fifth doctor poll yet so here's one for you. Caves is my favourite P.S. If you hate them all or love them all just post a reply.

Enlightenment.
Not sure why. Maybe the whole idea of bored immortals toying with ephemerals for their pleasure has some appeal.
Anyway, there you go...

Wow. Difficult choice! Caves is my first choice out of the gate, Earthshock nibbles at it's heels, throw Arc of Infinity, Mawdryn, Res. of the Daleks and King's Demons into the race. Difficult difficult choice. But I think I have to go with "Black Orchid." I don't think there was an episode quite like it beforehand and/or afterwards that was completly non-sci-fi. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Unquiet Dead doesn't count... sci-fi. It had aliens.) I just adored the story as a period piece.

I've always liked the Fifth Doctor. I found I could identify with him as an early teenager. I voted for "Caves" as I think it's easily one of the best stories of all of them. The tension and fear still ring true to me. Beinning at the end of the third episode, where you get that glimpse of the impending regeneration as he pilots the ship back to Minor, all the way through to the end of the final episode... classic, classic stuff.

I think it's ironic that Davison's final story turned out to be his best. Usually it's a middle of the season one.

5 Doctors was the stand out for me.
Second to that is possibly Arc of Infinity.

5 Docs and AOI are the two worst Davison stories Icewarrior. Might I just say that what are the best and worst Doctor Who stories are purely a matter of opinion. Anyway I think the 'Five Doctors' is quite entertaining.

Warriors of the Deep. Any story to combine both the Silurians and the Sea Devils has to have my vote.

I went for Caves of Androzani, it's such a great end to the fifth Doctor's era, a wonderfully grim and bleak story with a fantastic climax.

The Five Doctors is a good story though. Drags a little places, and would have been better if Tom Baker had decided to join in. Its definately one of my favourite stories.

Castovalva for me. My earlist memories of Doctor Who were from the Keeper of Traken (Melkur = nightmares for a six year old). the regeneration and such a stylish and well written first story have stuck in my mind ever since. P.S. Ant Ainley was best master by a parsec!

Warriors of the Deep. Silurians and Sea Devils in the same story.
