Now, we all know 'Shada' as the Doctor Who story that was never broadcast or completed. Well, here's the question, would it've been any better if it had been completed? I say that because the footage available doesn't look too promising. But I can quite safely point out it'd have been a better last 6 part story than the mind-numbing 'The Armageddon Factor' that's for sure. So, 'Shada', would it have been better if completed?

If I were to judge given the webcast, I still think it would have been a great story.

I agree. But what if the webcast were never made?

I have a videotape of "Shada" with Tom Baker describing the missing parts. I'm not sure if it would've been better because alot of episodes from the classic series tend to drag. That's one thing that's better about the current series. It doesn't take as long to get to the action!

I have to say that action isn't everything, for example the film 'Solaris', not much action (ok, none), but still a very good film to watch. Action... Indeed... Where was it written that Doctor Who stories have to be based on "Action"?!?! Some of the best ones weren't! Grr...mumble...rant...

RTD sees Doctor Who as an action Sci-Fi; because thats what the public want.
Classic doctor who, as with all old TV show and movies, was based on storyline.

Well, Doctor Who isn't an action Sci-Fi. Also, the public doesn't always know what's good for it. If I had my way I'd steer the show back to what the classic series was like; better than what it is now.

I am reading the novelisation of Shada, Douglas Adams’ story which was not completed in production for it to air on television. The novelisation was written by Gareth Roberts and Shada is the name of the Time Lord prison planet and the book reveals that among the prisoners there is Scintilla whose crime was for conspiring with Carrionites. The Carrionites were not the invention of Douglas Adams as they didn’t exist at the time of the television production of Shada. In fact they didn’t even exist when Adams died in 2001 as they were the invention of Gareth Roberts himself when he wrote them in for his debut Doctor Who television episode The Shakespeare Code.

Read the following from Gareth Roberts’ official novelisation of Shada by Douglas Adams from a dialogue by Professor Chronotis when he was talking about a book: “An Earth classic, by one of the greatest writers in that planet’s [Earth] history. Terribly funny, terribly thoughtful , wish I could remember the name of it, something about thumbing a lift, and there were towels in it, I remember that, yes, let me think – oh yes, of course, it’s called The Hitch-‘” Gee wonder what was the name of the book that the Professor was about to reveal before he got interrupted.

By now, most on here probably know there's an animated version of 'Shada' availale on youtube, featuring the 8th Doctor. I love it, I've watched it many times.
