Genesis of the Daleks, ah! In my opinion this is the best Doctor Who story broadcast. Terry Nation does a supurb job on the script and generally it's well written. Of course, other people think differently. Your call.
P.S. Shame about the giant clams! But hey! What do you expect with 1970's special effects?!

It really stands out from many other stories. Davros was a superb idea but I feel it would have been better not to have brought him back later on in the series. Everything just seems to work for me, the lighting, the music, the direction and of course the acting and the script. The special effects are few in number which really helps, to be honest effects heavy episodes like 'Underworld' do seem to decay somewhat against the test of time, especially when the quality is not that great. I showed this episode to my young nephew, who really came to Doctor Who via the new series and it's got him hooked on the original series. He's starting to watch more and more of it and so; to anyone wanting to get fans of the new Doctor Who series into the original, showing them a story like Genesis of the Daleks is the way to do it. Dominic P.S. It's a great DVD release to

I thought it was a great story to issue after the previous release of the William Hartnell DVD earlier this year. It sure had the feel of a longer epic. I liked the link to Nazi's and cold cruel warfare roots.
I was amazed to think it was over 30 years old now!
I was also please to see the interactions with old companions. It sure didn't look like Sarah Jane and Harry were travelling with the Doctor because they were hot for him--unlike the current series where no one seems to set foot into the TARDIS unless they are in a state of lust for one of the occupants.

Terry Nation once said it was the Nazis themselves he based the Daleks on. I can see the resemblance.

They didn't move or anything, and the Doctor told everyone to run, and they all panicked!

Because Starfish wanted more money? Maybe they were too quiet... kept claming up?

I personally would've used giant slug like creatures instead of clams, at least they could've been manually operated if you catch my drift.

Yes. Something more mutanty than shellfish would have been a better option.
