This is a phrase the Third Doctor utters when hes working on a scientific gizmo or modifying an existing one. This is to ask you which is your favorite example in all the 3d Doctor serials. I myself am going to go back and decide at a later date which is my favorite

Yeah, it seems like every piece of machinery the doctor touched had something to do with polarity. Or if it is in the future from now, WILL have something to do with polarity. (Im not talking about future doctors, I mean the 3rd doctor in the future from 2007... this is confusing.)

I think the 3rd Doctor is the only one who used the phrase 'Reverse the polarity' Of course these episodes are 30 years in the past. You have to be a real fan to want to go back that far.

I go back that far and further, my good friend (aquaintance? enemy? nemesis?). Back to the times of old, 1963-1970 I'm particuarly interested in at the moment.

I am not quite that old, but I did watch and record the 3rd Doctor when pbs showed his episodes in the early 80s, so I go back a little bit. I was a teenager in the early 80s.

There was a documentary that came out about the same time as the new series started (Eccleston) where it was said that Pertwee had a real time trying to remember technobabble lines but he could easily recall the polarity bit, which is why it was written in for him.

In "The Five Doctors", when he says "I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow" I always think, "Of course you have." I often wonder who said it first -- Doctor Who or Star Trek?
