A new Judge Dredd movie will go into production in 2009. www.2000adonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23822 "Rebellion and 2000 AD are proud to announce that Judge Dredd is coming to a cinema near you soon! Together with DNA Films, the movie production company behind such great sci-fi movies such as Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later, Judge Dredd will go into production in 2009. Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director said, ‘We can’t give away too many details at this point, but we’re looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen.’" As well as the Sylvester Stallone movie, Judge Dredd was also a series of audio plays made by Big Finish Productions (the makers of the Doctor Who audios).

Dredd was reviewed by the Sydney Sunday Telegraph’s Nick Dent in which he gave it three and a half stars and the verdict of “Sci-fi actioner offers a bloody good time”.
Dent says that this was a comic book reboot that actually needed to happen as he noted the disaster and derision that was the Sylvester Stallone film in 1995. Dent says that Dredd’s handling of vigilantes “makes the Dark Knight look positively radiant”.

Dredd: The Dredd film starring Karl Urban as the title character is definitely better than the Sylvester Stallone. The style that was presented in Dredd is definitely more suited to the character than the comical presentation that was the Stallone presentation and Lena Headey makes for a very good villain.
I judge Dredd to be a very good film indeed.

The Day the Law Died: The Day the Law Died is a Judge Dredd audio story produced by Dirk Maggs for broadcast on BBC Radio One in 1995. This stars Gary Martin as Judge Dredd and Lorelei King. Fascinating tale which has Dredd being framed for murder and Dredd therefore makes a bid to clear his name. It was especially very good with villain in Judge Cal and I read afterwards that he was inspired by Caligua. Now knowing this it is easy to feel this inspiration in Cal. A particular inspiration of Caligua in Cal is especially felt with who Cal appointed as his deputy.

The Apocalypse War: The Apocalypse War is a Judge Dredd audio story produced by Dirk Maggs for broadcast on BBC Radio One in 1995. This stars Gary Martin as Judge Dredd and Lorelei King. This has judges and citizens of Mega-City One being at war with each other. Quite enthralling and fascinating to hear this war played out and the strategy that Dredd uses for the climax of this war.

Death Trap: Death Trap is the second Judge Dredd episode from Big Finish. Released in April 2002 and written by David Bishop. The Death in the title refers to the undead Judge Death played by Mark Gatiss. An enthralling story displaying what a menace Judge Death is especially in his undead. On top of this a historian by the name of Nigella Gaiman, a supporter of Judge Death proves troublesome more so than she appeared to be. In addition, an old woman Mrs Gunderson provides comic relief due to her having a hearing aid and misunderstanding what was being said to her.

The Killing Zone: The Killing Zone is the third Judge Dredd episode from Big Finish and the fourth overall in its 2000 AD range. Released in July 2002 and written by Dave Stone. Start off fascinatingly with bodies turning up all of the result of the said Killing Zone, the illegal snuff-sport. However it kind of muddled through from the middle and by the end I wasn't really sure what I had just listened to.

The Big Shot!: The Big Shot! is the fourth Judge Dredd episode from Big Finish and the fifth overall in its 2000 AD range. Released in July 2002 and written by David Bishop. Dredd unwilling found himself assigned to protect a famous movie director in Quentin Quail after thwarting an assassination attempt on the said movie director Quite a twist that ultimately develops in this protection of Quail and certainly not one I could have guess. Not bad the way this episode develops with the said twist.

Trapped on Titan: Trapped on Titan is the fifth Judge Dredd episode from Big Finish and the sixth overall in its 2000 AD range. Released in September 2002 and written by Jonathan Clements. Guest stars Doctor Who luminary Nicola Bryant as Judge Mordin as well as the voice of the Titan Public Address System. I remember reading about Nicola's casting in this at the time and I'm glad that finally got to listened to this. Titan is a prison and Dredd goes there undercover as a new prisoner. Quite fascinating the reason why Dredd goes undercover at Titan and what it is at stake with this operation. Very enjoyable this time in confinement.

Get Karter!: Get Karter! is the sixth Judge Dredd episode from Big Finish and the seventh overall in its 2000 AD range. Released in October 2002 and written by David Bishop. The title Get Karter! is a play on the movie Get Carter. The said Karter here is Harry Karter, a crime boss whom Dredd has a score to settle with when he comes to Karter's hometown of Brit-Cit. Also having a score to settle with Karter is Amy Steel as she too comes to Brit-Cit as it is also her hometown. In fact Karter is her stepfather, he married her mother after the death of her father. Steel believes that Karter had killed her father and is determined to proved it. Steel's investigation of her father's death provides a shocking discovery of what happened when her father died. The flashback to this mystery provides the fascinating centrepiece to this episode and how well it all got delivered.
After listening to this episode listen to the interviews with writer David Bishop, Toby Longworth (Dredd) and Clare Buckfield (Steel). Interesting what it is like working on these audios such as Longworth playing a well established character in Dredd and Buckfiled a new character in Steel. Also for Buckfield playing Steel in Get Karter! with her coming back to her hometown Brit-Cit making it all about her.

99 Code Red: 99 Code Red is the ninth Judge Dredd episode from Big Finish and the eleventh overall in its 2000 AD range. Released in September 2003 and written by Jonathan Clements. Dredd and his fellow Judges patrol a theme park. Soon trouble, as it always does, comes afoot and the said code came into play. The perpetrator in all this ultimately turns out to be an actor and he is angered that people are not watching shows that is vital to his occupation as an actor. Pretty good how this revelation came about. Also pretty fun Enigma Smith's role in covering this theme park and the way she reacts this whole event.
