I didn't rate the episode. It felt far too disjointed for a 45 minute episode. The best thing about it (other than seeing Rose again) was the trailer for next week's episode.

I enjoyed this one a lot. But without wanting to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen it: did it actually happen or not? People crossing over realities made it seem real, but how did that Trickster beetle not only go back through time but also through space aswell? That made it seem more like a self-contained space-time bubble (or imaginary dream world). And if all the stars are vanishing, how does that happen simultaneously when they are thousands of light years apart? The technology to do that would be so immense and powerful, covering galaxies and millenia, that the force behind it (presumably You Know Who) is the greatest that has ever existed. That's a massive step up from anything that has gone before. As a teaser for the finale it was brilliant, but as an episode in its own right it was merely good.

OMG! Fantastic ending! I voted great! Bad Wolf everywhere, again! Did Rose do that? When Donna repeated those two words Rose had said to her I thought, "Whoa, that got his attention." Cloister bell, big trouble. That alternate timeline happened just because Donna turned right. If it was simply to show her how things would have turned out if she hadn't met the Doctor, like in the movie It's a Wonderful Life, then why would Rose have been there? I say it did happen so Rose could warn him. But, then history changed back so it wouldn't happen. OK, I'm confusing myself.

First of all I immediately recognised the Fortune Teller as Chipo Chung who had played Chanto in Utopia.
After brief appearances in Partners In Crime, The Poison Sky & Midnight, Billie Piper finally makes a substantial appearance as Rose in this season not to mention seeing her name back in the opening titles albeit this time with the "And" credit.
Turn Left is this season's Doctor-lite episode however it is quite different from Love & Monsters & Blink. Turn Left serves as a contrast to the previous episode Midnight. Whereas Donna appeared briefly in Midnight, Turn Left is the complete opposite with the Doctor appearing for a few minutes in total. We see what happened if Donna did not meet the Doctor with her turning right instead of left and the result is just devastating.
This episode has been uncomfortable to look at but at the same time it has been brilliantly done and Donna certainly interacts well with Rose. Also a very good lead up to the end of the season.
If nothing else Turn Left should serve as metaphor for all viewers of whether one's life could have been for the better if one got to Turn Left at a critical point in time. On a personal irony if I got to Turn Left in my life I probably would not be a Doctor Who fan. Well that's an irony of life.

The Spanish Maid was played by Loraine Velez. Loraine is the twin sister of Lauren Velez who is a regular in Dexter.
Among the Dexter episodes in which Lauren Velez appears as a series regular is the similarly named Left Turn Ahead (which incidentally was originally broadcast on my birthday on December 9 2007) and shown six months before the Doctor Who episode. So both sisters has experience of turning left.

Turn Left Poem: static1.squarespace.com/static/5fa00eae3c864b451a02f146/t/5fb0149a9488406ed9d8ad0e/1605375131911/TURN+LEFT+POEM+by+Lauren+Gordon.pdf
Written by Lauren Gordon. This is the final of twelve prose stories written to tie-in with the Turn Left rewatch. This poem is very good summarising Turn Left itself. Lauren Gordon describes Turn Left in a poetic way with key aspects of it. It is well done leading to certain two words that ends this poem.

Don't Turn...: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFUtirA0aSg&t=131sDon't Turn... is what being called a TARDISshort and was made to celebrate the Turn Left watchalong. This shows the consequence of a family watching MasterChef instead of Doctor Who! Didn't really enjoy this as I am not a aficionado of MasterChef and not because of any bias towards Doctor Who in this regard.
