Wrote this yesterday, just an idea, see what you think...
The Things We Do For Love...
The Doctor drops Jack off on the planet Destra, where he is intending to find a wise man known as Possaar, who will help him find his lost memories. The Time Lord and Rose meanwhile return to Earth, where they arrive back on the Powell Estate.
Jackie is jubilant her daughter has returned but Mickey is more reserved. He initially gives Rose the cold shoulder but is soon welcoming her back once more.
Rose and Mickey go shopping for a birthday present for Jackie whilst she is left to entertain the Doctor. He tries to reassure her that Rose will be all right with him, he’ll never let her go. To prove his point he takes her inside the TARDIS and shows her a recording he has made, an emergency override programme that will return her to Earth should he ever think she was in too much trouble. Comforted, Jackie returns to the flat, but something is waiting for her.
Rose and Mickey have started arguing, Mickey does not trust the Doctor to keep his hands to himself but she simply ignores him, referring to him as pathetic. He goes off into the market as she enters a clothes shop to find Jackie a new top. No sooner has she started looking around, an explosion rocks the ground and when she returns outside she discovers a giant hole has appeared in the ground and Mickey has been sucked inside.
Jackie screams as the Doctor wrestles the mutant elf to the ground, and orders it to explain itself. It is Zanik, the prince of a civilisation of mutants, known as the Hish, who live deep within the Earth’s surface. He has come to warn the human race of an invasion by the Morith, a rival tribe fed up of living under the ground and wan to claim the surface for themselves.
Rose rushes in explaining Mickey has disappeared but stops in her tracks at the sight of Zanik. The Doctor explains and after she tells him about the hole in the ground the two of them, followed by a distraught Jackie run back to the high street.
Once there they descend deep into the ground and find themselves in a cave system which stretches for miles. Jackie wanders off and gets lost, leaving Rose to find her. The Doctor carries on, towards a light in the distance, but is stopped when Jack materialises before him. The wise man on Destra knows nothing pf his past but instead warned him of the danger on Earth. He offers his help and the two men advance towards the light, stalling only when they hear two screams. They run faster and emerge in a giant cavern, a gigantic ball of light suspended before them, an unconscious Rose, Mickey and Jackie all held before them by chains dangling from the ceiling.
The Morith are preparing to unleash the light out on Earth, and burn out the minds on mankind. They summon the remaining energy and countdown to mount their attack. The Doctor and Jack manage to wake Rose but Jackie and Mickey remain still. The three travellers then set about distracting the Morith. Rose throws a rock into the light ball, causing a flux, which knocks out a crowd of the creatures; Jack begins stunning them with a laser gun and the Doctor links his mind to the light, dispelling it into tiny traces around the cave system. The furious Morith run towards him, and as he retreats he is joined by Rose and Jack, who are carrying the still unconscious Jackie and Mickey. They get back to the surface where the army are waiting. They run to safety as the Morith emerge and run riot, attacking the soldiers and the civilians that stand nearby. The Doctor manages to summon the energy of the light once more and aims it at the Morith attackers. They are either all knocked back into the hole or disintegrated completely. They continue to emerge, and the Doctor realises more needs to be done. He gets Rose and Jack to stand at other positions around the hole and links their minds to the light source as well. They create a giant barrier, which covers the hole sucking the creatures back into the hole and keeping them trapped inside. They realise their work is done and prepare to leave, as a UNIT official walks among the crowds trying to explain the incident was all a big street show, purely for amusement; “alien invasion madam? What nonsense!”
Some time after, Rose is watching over the sleeping Jackie, as she returns to health. She deposits a goodbye note on her bedside table, along with her birthday present, a new top and a shining alien crystal. She kisses her mum on the head then leaves, walking along the sunset-lit estate.
She returns to Mickey’s flat to discover he is waking up. She explains she is about to leave and he weakly protests. She explains she will never leave him, she will always return to see him and never forget him. He smiles and kisses her goodbye. Yet as she leaves in the TARDIS with the Doctor and some new bloke they seem to have picked up, he doubts her final words to him, and decides that perhaps it is time to move on. He looks to the sky before setting off outside, not knowing what to do.
