I have made a large update to the Hartnell era to include the Annuals and various short stories into the main listing.
Any comments or suggestion?

I like the effort that's gone into it. But is the inclusion of the TV Comic stories necessary? I can understand such adventures as 'Operation: Proteus' getting in, but stories like 'The Klepton Parasites' are at odds with established continuity and theme.
It would be nice to see a little more selectiveness, but on the whole, it's very well done.

"Selectiveness" as a criterion strikes me as fundamentally opposite to the goals of the Reference Guide as a whole. I like the idea of fitting in as many things as possible; we can all pick and choose what we think is feasible based on that.

Agreed! Having thought about it more, I can appreciate your point. True, with as much in as possible, the RG is fulfulling its job of putting everything where it ought to/could go.
I just worry about that 'new fan' who's watched the new series, taken the effort to buy a classic series DVD or two, and perhaps even read a novel, and ventured forth onto the internet to explore the world of Doctor Who in all its glory... one look at the magnitude of the stories compiled here might send him/her sprinting in the other direction.

Great work Dom , It's nice to see everything in the guide together, selectiveness would feel a bit of a cheat, I much prefer brendanmoody's idea that we have all of this information presented before us and we can decide for ourselves which lines of continuity we all wish to follow individually.

I was thinking, for the TV Story entries in the Reference Guide perhaps a few screenshots could be included, whilst for the comics a few pieces of art. Just a thought.

Is it worth pointing out that the New Adventure Conundrum established that the John and Gillian stories take place within the land of fiction?

Of course, even though I have no idea what you're talking about. Personally, it'd be helpful to have it pointed out to me as I read this information which of these cartoon things violate continuity and which don't. Yes, it's all really daunting, so any shortcuts that allow us to use the continuity without being overwhelmed by it all would be nice. My blood pressure doesn't need to rise that much.

Is it worth pointing out that the New Adventure Conundrum established that the John and Gillian stories take place within the land of fiction? Hmm, well, we know that there are a *version* of "Dr Who", "John", and "Gillian" in the Land of Fiction....but then again, we also saw Blackbeard and D'Artagnan in the Land of Fiction in "The Mind Robber", and both of them were real people as well....... So it's not inconsistent to keep the old strips as part of the mainline continuity..... Besides, the John/Gillian strips (and the annual stories) are charming and fun and occassionally barmy; a good indication of how far the "Doctor Who" formula can stretch and still keep its inherent "Doctorness". Has there been any thought to adding in the charity anthologies to the main listing? Cheers! Bill

Has there been any thought to adding in the charity anthologies to the main listing? If I ever get synopses for all the stories, I will add these stories to the listing. Dom

Dom,
Do you have anyone tackling "Campaign" yet? I'll sign up for it, but it might take me a while to get it done....

Ok, I can't promise a due date, but I'll work on it and get it to you when I can. It's a tricky one for my first attempt Bill
