What're your top three favourite William Hartnell stories from his run as the Doctor?
For me it would have to be 'The Tenth Planet', it was a swan song to be proud of and it's a shame Hartnell couldn't have had more to do with the story.
The Dalek Invasion of Earth would come in a close second, no matter how many times I watch this story it never gets dull, superbly written and executed, with a very touching ending.
Third favourite would be 'Edge of Destruction', so wonderfully sinister and dark, great performances and the enclosed environment works well.
However, it has to be said that the first episode of 'An Unearthly Child' is a masterpiece, a timeless classic from beginning to end, however it flag a little for the other three episodes.
So what are your top three William Hartnell stories?

In no particular order...
1) The Myth Makers - a humorous and historically inaccurate 'historical story'.
2) The Tenth Planet - A defining story in so many different ways.
3) The Daleks' Masterplan - Mavic Chen was just such a great villain!

1. Marco Polo. Watched the Loose Cannon recon, and listened to the BBC audio. Simply fantastic story, hit on all cylinders... My favorite Doctor Who story ever.
2. An Unearthly Child. The first episode I think is a remarkable piece of television. And the caveman store is significantly underappreciated; it's not aged well, but it's amazingly mature for a story aimed largely at kids (compare it to the drivel that is targeted towards kids today!)
3. The Daleks. A bit overlong, and showing its age, but very creepy in parts and very remarkable for 1964.
Honorable mention to "The Aztecs" and "The Reign of Terror"....
Let me put in a couple of other plugs...
Best book: Time and Relative....it's the book I loan out to non-Who fans to show them how good Dr Who can be. (Honorable mention to "The Witch Hunters")
Best short story: Fathers, Friends, and Other Objects of Hate (Missing Pieces anthology)....OK, not a "Hartnell" story, but a very clever take on the young Doctor. Poignant. (Honorable mention to "The Last Days".)

Yeah. I wasn't planning on implanting the episode in my head, but I heard they could do it cheap at Asda.

Yeah. I wasn't planning on implanting the episode in my head, but I heard they could do it cheap at Asda. It's worth having a look around the supermarkets because they usually have a load of bargains for sale, but as 'The Edge of Destruction' (part of 'The Beginning' Box Set) has been out for a year now, you'll most likely find it in the high street DVD chains, retailing at around £25. Failing that, there's always Internet stores, some of which have it on sale for a fraction of the RRP.

Back onto topic, I think that 100,000 BC was a good start to a brilliant show. However, you can't have a good episode just because it started a good series.

Oh yeah, forgot to actually list my 3. 1. Marco Polo. Nothing can beat it. 2. The Daleks. Loved the introduction to this fearsome enemy. 3. The Tenth Planet. Evidently I like episodes that introduce enemies.
