In the new series there are 13- 45 minute episodes, equivalent roughly to 26- 25 minute episodes. In each season there are 10 stories, 7- 1 part stories and 3- 2 part stories. Well I think that the stories really should go like this: 2,2,2,2,2,3. Who agrees?
P.S. I think that multi-part stories would be better because there's usually less rushing around.

Should go as follows IMO 1) 2 Parter 2) 1 Parter 3) 2 Parter 4) 3 Parter 5) 1 Parter 6) 1 Parter 7) 3 Parter.
Either that or revert to 25 minute episodes and 2wice a week 4 parts a story.

I don't mind the structure as it is although perhaps another one or two two-parters would be nice. My only wish would be that the series was shown in the winter, it's spookier that way Plus the viewing figures would be higher, putting to show on in the summer's a bit odd because when it's sunny, kids would rather be outside making the most of the nice weather.

With multi-episode stories there's another advantage, there's less of them so therefore story ideas will be depleted much more slowly than if the season is populated by loads of 1-part stories. I think I should do a poll on this at some time.

For the record, I don't like the concept 1-Episode stories, it doesn't feel right, even if the story is well written and directed.

The problem with 2 parters is that the first part dosn't have much content and "action" in it. It seems to be just introducing the story. I agree perhaps that 4 part or longer episodes would be a good idea. I alos agree that it should be in the winter because everything else is so boring in winter, it would help cheer me up

I'd go for 4-parters if they were 25 minute episodes.
So, 26 episodes, each 25 minutes long, I'd have the arrangment as 4,4,4,4,4,6.

I think the problem with going back to the old four / six parter format is that if viewers don't take to the story in its first one or two episodes they wont tune in for the rest of the story, which means an average of lower viewing figures.

Funny you should say that, because during Philip Hinchliffe's era as produce of Doctor Who, the ratings averaged 10-11 million viewers each night. Now you can't say that they had a low ratings average, and TV was better then!

Ah but it takes a bit more to hold an audience nowadays, what with a wide range of other mediums and indeed other channels available to distract them. Mind you if the quality is maintained we'd have no problem.

I have to say I can't see RTD changing it. The show today is very different to how it used to be and it's paying divinends to the BBC for briniging it back, albeit in Wales.

Talking of Wales you know in the last episode it said that the Tylers were on a beach in Norway at the end of the episode. Well that beach is near Cardiff, not far from where I live at the moment.

No I'm only in Wales temporarily and I wasn't there when they were filming but they are now in Cardiff.

I was thinking of having it like this: 30 episodes per season (each 25 minutes long). One broadcast on Friday night, the other on Saturday. The arrangment is this: 4,6,4,6,4,6 or 4,4,4,6,6,6 or even 4,4,7,4,4,7 further still 4,4,4,4,4,10 or 4,4,8,4,4,6? Don't like it? How about this? 15 45/50 minute episodes, arrangment: 3,2,2,2,2,8? Ok, I'm ranting. Pretend I never said anything. :: Whistles ::
