7 episodes in, and i'm getting worried. I don't think Series 2 is as good as Series 1 was at the same point.
Every week I hope for a classic, and every week i'm let down.
Time is running out, but there is still 6 weeks to go.
Am I alone, or are others thinking the same way?

I don't know about anyone else but I happened to like the stories broadcast so far. Anyway we don't want a repeat of Colin Baker's era do we? Hmm?

Theres been some duffers (Girl in the Fireplace) but theres been some good stories as well (Idiot's Lantern, New Earth), and over all I am enjoying the series. Its not as good as Eccleston but I feel that once the writers have got to grips with the new persona, the next series will be a lot better.

Every week I hope for a classic Just because an episode is a classic, doesn't necessarily mean it's good.

That aint right. The girl in the fireplace was great. Saying New Earth and The Idiots Lantern were good is just wrong. For your self maybe, for me its how I feel. Girl in the Fireplace, IMO, was just dull and uninteresting. Whereas I thoughly enjoyed New Earth and Idiot's Lantern, which I found to be far more enjoyable stories. I'm used to being in the minority though.

Girl in the Fireplace was my favourite, maybe even better than Series One stories, but other then that, pretty average.
Series One was just so good, maybe it's too much to expect the same of this Series.

I look at it in this long-winded manner: Season 1 / 2 ComparisonRose / New EarthI'd go for 'New Earth', more interesting and although 'Rose' had a bit more tension it felt far too rushed to me. The End of The World / Tooth and ClawNow this is though because although i really like 'The End of the World'. 'Tooth and Claw' was more tense and scary, which is how I feel the series should be rather than too light hearted all the time. The Unquiet Dead / School ReunionThis is really tough and again I'll go for the more eerie story over all so 'The Unquiet Dead' gets my vote although I think 'School Reunion' is superb. Aliens of London / The Girl In The FireplaceStraight away I choose 'The Girl in the Fireplace', for me 'Aliens of London' was just too jokey in places, it did have some nice tense moments at the end of the episode but really the whole farting alien thing was too childish for my liking. World War Three / Rise of the CybermenAnother tough one because although I love the contained environment in 'World War Three', 'Rise of the Cybermen' just stands out as better, more action packed and I suppose I'm jaded by the return of the Cybermen. Dalek / The Age of SteelOoh, another tough one, I'll probably side with 'Dalek' because the scenes with the creature going on a killing spree are superb. I do like 'The Age of Steel' although it's not quite as good as 'Rise of the Cybermen' I still think it's a fantastic episode if only for the great last few scenes dealing with Mickey's departure. The Long Game / The Idiot's LanternNot too difficult for me, 'The Idiot's Lantern' gets my vote because it's a better story, The Long Game is more of a prologue for 'Bad Wolf' and 'Parting of the Ways', and 'The Idiot's Lantern' is a bit more scary and eerie which is, as I said earlier, more as the series should be in my opinion. Father's Day / The Impossible PlanetTough this one, because 'Father's Day' was a shining point for series one and worked incredibly well. However 'The Impossible Planet' just had more action and was genuinely scary, how I really think Doctor Who should be so the latter gets my vote. The Empty Child / The Satan PitThe most difficult so far because The Empty Child was wonderfully eerie and dark yet 'The Satan Pit' was also quite dark and actually very interesting in the subject matter it dealt with. I'm none to fond of dead heats so I'm leaving this to a coin toss. Heads = 'The Empty Child', Tails = 'The Satan Pit'. Result: Tails, 'The Satan Pit' gets my vote. The Doctor Dances / Love & MonstersQuite easy for me really, I much prefer 'The Doctor Dances' simply because it fells more like a classic story than 'Love & Monsters' did. The latter was just a bit too jokey and rather un-entertaining although it did have a reprieve when the conclusion came but on the whole the more eerie episode from series one gets the vote. Boom Town / Fear HerA tough one because neither are the greatest episodes in the world but I'll go for 'Fear Her' because there just seems to be a stronger plot and a more darker subject matter. I'm not too fond of the stuff with the Doctor lighting the Olympic flame because it just seems a step too far against realism in regards to how the Doctor can interfere. Strange really, I accept far out stuff like a spaceship crashing into Big Ben but this just seems a bit less realistic So with a resounding eight votes to three, I think series two is generally better than series one so far ;D

The two seasons are different in many ways. For one thing this one's darker in tone and also the Doctor is more manical. Also of all the episodes broadcast I think the episode lightest in tone is 'New Earth'. The darkest so far has to be 'The Impossible Planet'. So far that is...

I've been reading an article on Outpost Gallifrey on the upcoming episode 'Love & Monsters' and from what I've seen it doesn't look too promising. I think Peter Kay was miscast there but we'll have to see...

Dreading Love & Monsters. Series 2 is ok at the moment. TGITF and TIP were classics. The 1st series didn't have any classics as far as I'm concerned. To johnlumicdavros: How can't a classic be good.

Doing something similar to Dominic Smith, here's my Series 1 & 2 comparison [Updated]:
Rose/ New Earth: Although 'Rose' was a quick paced series opener, I have to go for 'New Earth' because it's generally darker in places and a bit more interesting.
End of the World/ Tooth and Claw: For me it has to be 'Tooth and Claw', it's darker and quicker pased with loads of tension, plus it got my heart racing.
The Unquiet Dead/ School Reunion: I say 'School Reunion', for one reason mainly, Sarah Jane Smith. Enough said.
Aliens of London/ The Girl in the Fireplace: I have to say 'The Girl in the Fireplace'. It's more interesting and better written.
World War Three/ Rise of the Cybermen: My vote goes to 'Rise of the Cybermen', it's more interesting.
Dalek/ Age of Steel: Tough one but I have to choose 'Dalek' in this instance.
The Long Game/ The Idiot's Lantern: Guess! Alright it's 'The Idiot's Lantern'!
Father's Day/ The Impossible Planet: 'The Impossible Planet' gets my vote though it was a tough decision.
The Empty Child/ The Satan Pit: I think I'll break even hear.
The Doctor Dances/ Love & Monsters: A foregone conclusion don't you think.
Boom Town/Fear Her: 'Fear Her' by a large margin.
Bad Wolf/Army of Ghosts: 'Army of Ghosts' has the edge here.
Parting of the Ways/Doomsday: 'Doomsday' was just...erm..."better".
So Final Scores: Series One- 3 points Series Two- 11 points
So generally I think Series Two is better.

Following the trend
Rose\New Earth: Liked both actually but New Earth gets my vote. The End Of The World\Tooth And Claw: Didn't like either too much but Tooth And Claw because of Tennant. The Unquiet Dead\School Reunion: Sarah Jane and K9 swing it to School Reunion. Aliens Of London\The Girl In The Fireplace: Girl In The Fireplace was brilliant, unlike Aliens Of London. World War Three\Rise Of The Cybermen: Don't like either but I think World War Three just sneaks it. Dalek\The Age Of Steel: Dalek easily. The Long Game\The Idiots Lantern: Idiot's Lantern sneaks it on being vaguely more interesting and it has no Adam in it. Fathers Day\The Impossible Planet: No contest Impossible Planet hands down. The Empty Child\The Satan Pit: The best v.s. the best. The Satan Pit. The Doctor Dances\Love & Monsters: The Doctor Dances obviously. Fear Her\Boom Town: Two poor episodes. Fear Her is better though. Bad Wolf\Army Of Ghosts: Umm, Bad Wolf. The Parting Of The Ways\Doomsday: Both rubbish but The Parting Of The Ways wins.
Series 1: 5 Series 2: 8
Closer that I expected but there you go.

Oh, come on! I've been watching since 1963 and there've been good and bad episodes ever since. What are you going to do next? A round robin competition where every episode of every doctor is played off against every other? That's one league table I can't wait to see.
"Doctor Who" is the only show on TV where our whole family sits down together and watches in silence for the duration. That was true of Series One and Series Two. Personally I wasn't over-enamoured with The Unquiet Dead, The Long Game or Father's Day and similarly could live without rewatching New Earth, Idiot's Lantern and Fear Her so both series are 10-3 for me but I wouldn't even get a concensus on my own couch, never mind from you folks.

Actually, that comparing series stuff is nothing more than a short term comparison chart to see if the show is improving, that's all.
