I know, as do most people, that's why I suggested it

So, if I'm reading you right, you're suggesting that they do it for all episodes, bar the season finale which doesn't come with them anyway, correct?

Correct, that way if you don't like spoilers and do want to watch the credits you can do so and then switch over before the trailer comes on, if you do want to watch it just wait until the end of the credits.
Mind you from what I can tell there's been no widespread complaints about the trailers on the single episodes, just the doubles after the 'Aliens of London' incident, so I wouldn't have thought they'd go changing things.
It's not as if they give away the whole plot anyway, it's more a teaser than a spoiler.

Actually, "spoilers" have that nasty habit of spoiling the viewing pleasure for other viewers, especially the type who'd rather not know what happens until the night. Personally I think it better that these spoilers/teasers are removed from the end credits, if the audience are kept in the dark they're more likely to become more curious, and so are more likely to tune in, that is just a theory however.

I like the spoilers they make me want to see the next episodes i think they should keep it. I believe that is the majority opinion, and these trailers can be very effective; the one for 'Army of Ghosts / Doomsday' was astonishing (the only flaw being the revelation of the Daleks via the shot of someone being exterminated) and I think their removal would not do the series well at all, a trailer can reel in the viewing public far more effectively than a simple press release can in a listings magazine can.

Actually I wasn't suggesting the removal of trailers all together. What I meant was to remove the trailers from the end credits, the ones that you get in between TV programmes can stay as far as I'm concerned.

Yes but supposing viewers (especially the casual viewers) don't really watch much TV other than Doctor Who and a few other programmes and miss them? It's much easier to leave them where they are so people who want to see them (the majority) will be able to view them at least once. As for those who don't like them, as with other "controversial" issues in the new series that the majority like, it's tough luck I'm afraid.

Looks like the vote option is out of the question then? ;D

I've just been thinking, I believe that one of the main problems with the "Next Time..." feature is that when it comes to the DVD releases, well they could be considered by some as a bit of an annoyance if included with the main feature. My suggestion would be: remove them from the end credits, then once they've finished, it can be viewed as a TV trailer right afterwards.

The Beeb must realise people don't like them. JLD's suggestion was a good one, giving people time to switch channel to miss a trailer.

The Beeb must realise people don't like them. JLD's suggestion was a good one, giving people time to switch channel to miss a trailer. Some people don't like them, others do. Unless you start a petition with a few thousand names on it to have them removed I doubt it's going to change Another way around the problem of course may well be longer episodes. For series one the trailers only appeared because the episodes themselves weren't quite long enough, it then became a sort of tradition. A few extra pages of script would rid you of them (a la 'Rise of The Cybermen') Blimey, all this fuss over a trailer
