Once and Future is Big Finish's 60th Anniversary Doctor Who series with each episode to my understanding mainly featuring a different Doctor.
Once and Future starts with Past Lives written by Robert Valentine and released in May 2023.
This features the Fourth Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, Kate Stewart, Osgood and the Monk.
I was quite taken aback that this starts off with the Seventh Doctor before he suddenly undergoes a degeneration, not regeneration, with his previous selves making brief appearances before settingly on the face of the Fourth Doctor.
To be quite frank I was unsettled on this degeneration how it is a degeneration not a regeneation and how could it possibly reconcile in concept to how the Fourteenth Doctor got introduced on TV.
For the sake of simplcitty I refer to the Doctor who is mainly here as being the Fourth Doctor.
Sarah's presence in this story takes place just shortly after the Fourth Doctor dropped her off in The Hand of Fear and I was very surprised that when Monk then goes to meet her they already know each other and this didn't happen on television.
I had to look this up and found the Fourth Doctor and Sarah had met the Monk before in the Short Trip episode How to Win Planets and Influence People.
Soon Kate and Osgood from UNIT get embroiled into this and it was very interesting having the Fourth Doctor, Sarah, Kate and Osgood as a team especially with 4 and Sarah having worked alongside Kate's father the Brigadier.
Overally quite enjoyable this story with the menace that is presented here that of the Hyreth led by Galavaunt
and how it involved a device known as the Magna Gral.
A solid start to Once and Future.
