November 23 2022 marks the 59th anniversary of Doctor Who.
At the time of the previous anniversary came 2/3rd way through Flux.
Flux eventually ended with the remaining two episodes which then followed with three specials of 2022 with Eve of the Daleks, Legend of the Sea Devils and the Jodie Whittaker finale The Power of the Doctor.
The trailer of the yet to be titled The Power of the Doctor at the end of Legend of the Sea Devils revealed that it would see the return of Janet Fielding as Tegan and Sophie Aldred as Ace.
When The Power of the Doctor eventually arrived which also served as the BBC Centenary Special not only were Tegan and Ace in it as expected but unexpected cameos from other classic series companions as well as past Doctors.
I for one wasn't expecting for The Power of the Doctor to be quite a fanfest that it turned out to be.
Jodie's departure as the Doctor was at the same time of the showrunner who cast her Chris Chibnall.
Chibnall's successor was announced first when it was revealed to be Russell T Davies returning as showrunner.
In the period between the broadcast of Legend of the Sea Devils and The Power of the Doctor came the announcement of who Davies has chosen as the new Doctor and that person is Ncuti Gatwa.
Gatwa was initially thought to have become the Fourteenth Doctor.
However when Jodie regenerated at the end of The Power of the Doctor she turned into David Tennant, formerly the Tenth Doctor, who has now become the Fourteenth Doctor with Gatwa to follow on as the Fifteenth.
Why has the Doctor returned to the David Tennant form.
No doubt all will be revealed when Tennant makes his full on appearances as the Fourteenth Doctor in the 60th anniversary in 2023.
