There's this one thing that's been bugging me for a considerable amount of time now. It's a well known fact that many DVD stories of Doctor Who come with a commentary as extra, but why are some of the commentaries for some of the 1960's stories (William Hartnell to be precise: Lost in Time DVD, 'The Web Planet', 'The Beginning' DVD Boxset etc) moderated by Gary Russell? I'm asking this because I'm sure the people doing the commentaries can be trusted not to swear, etc. Has anyone got an answer?

How exactly is the commentaries moderated? Is he constantly reminding them not to swear during the commentry or what?

How exactly is the commentaries moderated? Is he constantly reminding them not to swear during the commentry or what? It's more the fact that he keeps the comments flowing by asking questions to the other members of the panel. Most of the other commentaries manage to flow quite well unaided but I think it was deemed suitable to add a moderator into the William Hartnell commentaries, perhaps due to the rather quiet comment track for 'The Aztecs'

Ah that makes sense then.

So in some ways, it's saying that the Doctor Who actors/crew of the early sixties era have relatively poor memories. Well that's one itch scratched.
