Eerie at the start with the Doctor in a vision seeing a distorted house in the sky before waking up in which she, Yaz and Dan found themselves in the Crimean War.
Here they meet Mary Seacole, a real-life historical figure.
When the Doctor asked Mrs Seacole about the British fighting Russians, the latter did not understand about the Russians as the British weren't fighting them.
The British were instead fighting the Sontarans! Hence the title.
Mrs Seacole soon introduced the Doctor, Yaz and Dan to her hotel and oh my that is the smallest hotel I have ever seen.
This hotel, known as the British Hotel, is not a hotel that people in general expects. It is instead as the real Mary Seacole has described:
"a mess-table and comfortable quarters for sick and convalescent officers".
Yaz and Dan barely had time to see this hotel when something took them away leaving the Doctor on her own.
Dan is sent back home in Liverpool. What a sight on seeing a big spaceship there and it turns out to be a Sontaran ship as Sontarans are there.
Dan got chased by a couple of Sontarans but got saved when these Sontarans got hit in the probic vent by a couple and what a surprised that it is revealed that they are Dan's parents.
This moment feels inversely to Rose saving Wilf and Sylvia from a Dalek in The Stolen Earth.
Yaz ends up in a place where she speaks to a triangle thing and on her hand she had written the letters WWTDD. It did not take me long to figure that it stands What Would The Doctor Do.
At this place she soon meets Vinder. They also eventually Azure and Swarm who I come back to later.
At the British Hotel, when the Doctor looked at the map it was shocking to see Sontar written where Russia should be.
At the British Hotel, a Sontaran, Svild was held captive and immediately recognised Dan Starkey's voice.
Starkey had played another Sontaran, Kragar in the previous episode The Halloween Apocalypse but I didn't recognised his voice when I watched it there probably because the sound quality I had received with that episode wasn't very good.
Kreg is soon released to inform his commander Skaak about the Doctor's presence
The Doctor and Skaak ultimately meets and a fan moment came when the latter mentioned Linx, the first Sontaran to appear in Doctor Who in The Time Warrior back in 1973.
Funny about Skaak wanting to ride a horse!
When the British soldiers fought the Sontarans and it was certainly a massacre for the former as promised by Skaak.
This led General Logan to beg the Doctor for help and it was funny the Doctor then asked for a pointy stick and gave her lecture about the Sontarans!
The Sontarans in both timelines are ultimately got rid off with Dan and Karvinista making an unlikely team against them in Liverpool.
General Logan destroys the Sontaran ships even though the Sontarans had agreed the ships.
The Doctor expressed outrage as this as the Sontarans were leaving.
Reminded me of the Tenth Doctor expressing outrage at Harriet Jones destroying the leaving Sycorax ship in The Christmas Invasion.
The Doctor and Dan ultimately went to where Yaz where they meet up with Azure and Swarm and what a shocked what were on Yaz and Vinder's faces.
