Season 43 opener.
The start of Jodie Whittaker’s final season as the Doctor and under the umbrella title of Flux as all six episodes of this season makes up one story with all episodes written or co-written by showrunner Chris Chibnall.
The first chapter has Halloween in the title in reflection of the fact that this came on Halloween October 31 2021.
Surprised that the first we see of the Doctor and Yaz here, they are hanging upside down in midair.
Eventually they got out of this and saw them getting back in the TARDIS with them landing on the bed!
With them back in the TARDIS, the Doctor gets a vision in which she sees an alien getting out of its cage and hauntingly gives a message to the Doctor of trick and treat.
On Earth we meet soon to be companion Dan Lewis (John Bishop making his Doctor Who debut here).
Dan sure got a shock when an alien Kavinista broke into his house and revealed his face to be like that of literally like a dog and then took him captive.
It is revealed that Kavinista is the alien which held the Doctor and Yaz captive at the start of this episode.
The Doctor and Yaz tracked down their former captor at Dan’s house.
The Doctor unwittingly triggered a trap on a laptop resulting in Dan’s house being miniaturised with the Doctor and Yaz narrowly getting out of it.
After narrowly escaping Dan’s house they meet Claire. They don’t know her but she knows them as she met them in her personal past, their personal futures.
After this brief meeting the Doctor and Yaz then parted ways with Claire.
Claire then encounters a Weeping Angel.
Quite tense this encounter as Claire attempts to get away from it and so sad that the Angel got her in the end.
Another new character that got promoted this season is Vinder played by Jacob Anderson and we see him in Observation Outpost Rose (named after Rose Tyler perhaps).
The Sontarans also turned up but only as a conversation between two of them.
As indicated in the title of the next chapter it looks like they will dominate proceedings in War of the Sontarans.
Horrifying on seeing the Flux destroying planets.
While Yaz went to rescue Dan on Kavinista, the Doctor has a talk with Kavinistra and it is revealed that he has information about the Division. This thus reveals that the Timeless Child arc left over at the end of the previous season gets addressed here with the Doctor wanting more information on this.
For Earth to be protected from the Flux it was impressing seeing a defensive shield formed around it.
For the first time 13 uses the hammer in the TARDIS for the first time and she sure made use of it.
Horrifying on seeing the Flux purposely making its way to the TARDIS and soon marking the enthralling cliffhanger.
The episode is dedicated to the memory of Julie Ankerson and she was foley artist on the series:

In fact this is the second season opener in a row that pays tribute to a Doctor Who contributor in the end credits after former script editor Terrance Dicks for Spyfall Part One.
