Night of the Whisper is the ninth episode of Destiny of the Doctor by Big Finish/AudioGo which celebrated Doctor Who's 50th anniversary in 2013.
As this is the ninth episode it accordingly featured the Eighth Doctor as well as a cameo by the Eleventh Doctor who was then the incumbent Doctor. In this instance 11 mentions Amy in his message to 9.
Ninth Doctor actor Chris Eccleston however was not involved with this.
In lieu of Eccleston, this story is narrated by Nick Briggs as he steps in as the Ninth Doctor in a two-hander with John Schwab as James McNeil. Schwab had worked with Eccleston and Briggs in the TV episode Dalek with Schwab as Bywater and Briggs as voice of the said Dalek.
Written by Cavan Scott and Mark Wright and released in September 2013.
The story also has Rose and Captain Jack.
This story has the Doctor, Rose and Jack in New Vegas in the 23rd century and it has them helping the police department in their investigation on a vigilante known as the Whisper.
The aformentioned James McNeil is the police chief who and the investigation on the Whisper is of a personal nature to him. This story revealed what would become of him after these events.
Caught my attention when the Doctor at the police station introduced himself as George Dixon with Rose asking how he came up with that name.
I knew this is the name of the cop in the movie The Blue Lamp (1950) who then continued in his own TV series Dixon of Dock Green.
Night of the Whisper plays out as a very enthralling crime drama in this futuristic non-Earth setting with the pursuit of the Whisper very well played out leading to a critical moment when McNeil gets to the other villain Cyrus Wolfsbane and the choice he has to make at that very moment.
