I have only heard the trailer so far, but I can't wait to hear this! I hope it is a detailed history! (Also, I question whether it will include Dalek history from the novels or the BF Audios...?)

My Review (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)
To be honest I found this a bit of a let down. It simply details the TV Dalek stories in order that the Doctor met them (bar 'Dalek' which is shown first'.) To be honest I think it would have been better if shown from the Dalek POV, their own timeline which could well be different to the one seen by the Doctor.
The history is far from detailed, there is little or no explanation as to how the Daleks managed to survive some adventures to face the Doctor again (e.g how they managed to survive after 'The Daleks' to meet the Doctor again in 'The Dalek Invasion of Earth') All you get is "we'll never know how this happened", "it is not known how this happened" or "perhaps we will never know how this happened".
There are some references to the Time War, hinting at how some of the classic series skirmishes could well have been part of the run up to it, but beyond that there's very little new material bar some newly recorded footage of Nick Briggs playing the Daleks at various points in their history.
So it's worth a listen if only for the time war references and nostalgia alone, but beyond that I wouldn't say it's worth a re-listen.
Thanks,
Dominc

So it does only contain the TV stories... well I suppose it was inevitable.

I haven't actually listened to it but I here that it's quite good. It's just a pity no-one's ever going to be able to write the definitive history of the Daleks or Doctor Who for that matter.

It is an interesting release, to hear the stories of the classic series again is nice, some of them are rather chilling in audio form, but beyond that it's not overly exciting. As for a diffinitive history of the Daleks, I'm working on one at the moment, but it might be a while beofre it's finished. I've got a lot of other work to do at the moment, should be ready by the summer.

HA HA HA! I just hope that no one else writes a history of the Daleks and claims that THEIR version is the definitive guide! But honestly good luck.

The Dalek Conquests is just another sinister BBC marketing exercise.

The Dalek Conquests is just another sinister BBC marketing exercise. HA! Isn't every product they release a sinister marketing exercise?!?! It's called making money! HAHAHAHA! Boy I can't stop laughing at myself! I need to get out more. Though to be serious if people enjoy it that's the main thing but you're right on that point.

Didn't mean to offend dominicsmith with my last comment. He works for the BBC I think.

I was wondering, couldn't they've bought this out as a book instead of an audio? I mean a small to medium sized reference guide?

That would have been a good idea, perhaps they might do that one day, with a bit of luck they'll put in a bit for filler material between stories. Incidentally, the Dalek History I was talking about is a work in progress, the first part is up in the fan fiction section.

As a person born a year after doctor who was cancelled in 1989 I found this a helpfull guide to the history of The Doctor and the Daleks. Nicholas Briggs has given a lot to Doctor Who projects over the past decade or so and he obviously enjoyed reliving his chilhood in this CD.
