The Descendants of Pompeii is a tie-in to the global rewatch of The Fires of Pompeii at the Doctor Who Lockdown.
The Descendants of Pompeii stars Francesca Fowler and Tracey Childs and written by The Fires of Pompeii writer James Moran.
Fowler played Evelina and Childs played Evelina's mother Metella in The Fires of Pompeii.
The Descendants of Pompeii has them playing the said descendants in the present day with Fowler as Evie and Childs as Evie's mother Maxine.
It was especially nice to see Francesca.
Evie is short for Evelina as she thought that Evelina sounded ancient (wink wink).
The Fires of Pompeii had future Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi as Caecilius, Metella's husband and Evelina's father.
It is a pity that Capaldi wasn't in The Descendants of Pompeii but it had been pointed out that Capaldi did play a descendant of Caecilius in John Frobisher in Torchwood: Children of Earth.
Of this family, only Francois Pandolfo who had played Quintus, hasn't played a descendant of his Fires of Pompeii character.
Unless his character Graham in Torchwood 6.9 God Among Us: A Mother's Son happens to be a descendant of Quintus.
Funny The Descendants of Pompeii starts with Maxine calling Evelina only for it to turn out to be a video chat between the two!
Interesting the conversation between the two especially with Evie being perplexed that their family having the same kind of jobs in their family history and Maxine saying that a guardian angel is watching over them.
A heart-warming follow-up of what became of the Caecilius family throughout the ages and it ends with the revelation that this chat had an additional caller who did not take part in the chat and unbeknownst to Evie and Maxine.
It wasn't stated in anyway but there is a great sense that it was the said guardian angel and it would have been appropriate if this had been the Twelfth Doctor.
