My favourite Sci-fi is (descending order):
1. Doctor Who (Classic and Current Series) 2. The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy 3. Red Dwarf and... 4. Quantum Leap
It is also my aim to own every single Tom Baker Doctor Who story ever made (and completed. Sorry Shada).

Does The Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy count. If it does it's as good as Doctor Who.

If you mean the most recent movie version, then no When I put 'Hitchhikers' down as my second favourite Sci-fi series, I meant it as in the TV series. Though the movie's good too, especially Stephen Fry's narration as the Guide.

I was just sitting here, sipping very milky tea when it just struck me, what if Doctor Who didn't exist? What Sci-Fi would we all like instead. Sure we could all say Star Trek but that's the easy way out, meaning did the creator of that show get any ideas from Doctor Who? Would The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy exist? Cause and effect. But I wasn't going to think too hard but what would you say to: "What if Doctor Who never existed?" Think about it but not too much. I don't want to be blaimed for starting a headache epidemic due to too much thinking!

My favourites are Star Trek (NOT Enterprise!) and Babylon 5. Following Stargate (though Atlantis doesn't seem as good as SG-1), Firefly and Farscape.

I quite liked Enterprise actually. Star Trek couldn't have borrowed from Doctor Who because the americans wouldn't have even heard of the show in 1966 when Star Trek was created.

No offence to all Trek fans out there but I think Star Trek is boring.

Firefly/Serenity is one of the most refreshing takes on Sci-Fi in a long time I enjoyed it heaps!
I am Currently working my way through Farscape (currently mid season 2) which I am also loving!
Stargate is brilliance, I don't know how I will cope with it being cancelled at the completion of season 10.
I am yet to watch Battlestar Galactica.

There are many rumors about Stargate's future: some say that SG-1 will simply move to another channel, others say that they will make up another Stargate series and there are also the projects for new movies. I guess we have just to wait and see.
