Fascinating it begins with a reprise from scenes of The Day of the Doctor with Three Doctors and two Osgoods.
Ingrid Oliver returns here as Osgood and an explanation of why she is here despite witnessing her demise by Missy's hands in Death In Heaven.
The explanation being it may or may not her Zygon double. However it is ambiguous to everyone which was which.
Even the Doctor's reasoning that if the Osgood that was killed by Missy had been human the Zygon would have reverted to its original form shortly afterwards got debunked by the Osgood here saying there are new rules of how long a Zygon can keep any form of appearance.
Osgood on previous occasions worn a piece of clothing that brought reminders of the Fourth and Eleventh Doctors, here one of the Osgoods worn a question necked jumper like one worn by the Seventh Doctor and a question marked collar like worn by the Fourth Doctor.
The Twelfth Doctor here says that he has question marked underpants. Somewhat I don't think I needed to know that.
It is a good thing the Doctor got it right that the two little girls were Zygons otherwise that would have looked worrying to see.
In Death In Heaven, Kate is credited as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. She is called Kate Stewart. The end credits however simply credits her as Kate apparently not so sure which surname for her to go by.
Kate mentioned that the Zygons had tried to take over the Earth in the 1970s or 1980s, referencing Terror of the Zygons featuring her father the Brigadier and the difficulty of UNIT dating.
Among the guest stars is Rebecca Front who was Peter Capaldi's co-star in The Thick of It. Somewhat coincidentally not long after ABC Australia has shown this episode it shown a Humans episode featuring Front and directed by Daniel Nettheim who is also the director of The Zygon Invasion.
Playing Norlander is Gretchen Egolf and she looked familiar to me. Looking her up on IMDb I have indeed seen her elsewhere before.
She is an American actress and her previous work had been mainly for American television which included a regular role in Journeyman, where she played the wife of the series title character, a time traveller like the Doctor and her other guest stints included Roswell, Medium, Knight Rider (2008), Ghost Whisperer & Elementary.
So delighted that Gretchen Egolf has made an appearance in Doctor Who. Having known her before I never imagine that she would turn up here in The Zygon Invasion as a Zygon.
What a shock that a switch had been made on Clara with a Zygon calling herself Bonnie.
Bonnie somewhat reminded me of the Martha clone that the Sontarans made in The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky.
Looking at the episode a second time it was Bonnie not Clara who revealed about Truth or Consequences being the name of a town in New Mexico. So did Clara ever knew what Truth or Consequences really meant or was it the sole purpose for Bonnie to reveal this information.
Jac was among those killed in the ambush by Bonnie. Having only made one other appearance in The Magician's Apprentice it was sad that she got killed off. It looks Jac was right about the end coming, her own.
After Norlander is revealed to be a Zygon, there comes another Zygon double of Kate. One would think Kate would have learn the lessons of her previous Zygon experiences in The Day of the Doctor.
What a cliffhanger as Bonnie shot the bazooka on the plane carrying the Doctor and Osgood. Bonnie says "Truth or Consequences" and I don't think she was referring to the town.
Jenna Coleman is sure deliciously evil as Bonnie.
