Very creepy opening to the episode with that man ending up in the wall. Guest stars Christopher Fairbank (Fenton) and not long before Flatline I had seen him in Guardians of the Galaxy which also featured Karen Gillan. Other roles I have seen him portrayed included Freddie Lennon, the father of John Lennon in Lennon Naked in which John was played by a post-Ninth Doctor Chris Eccleston. Shared Clara’s sentiment on finding the TARDIS adorable when the TARDIS shrunk down to small size. It was quite a sight seeing the Doctor’s face covering the TARDIS entrance as he and the interior did not shrink with the exterior. Incidentally small TARDISes also popped up in Doctor Who: Earth Conquest –The World Tour which was shown on the ABC straight after its simulcast of Flatline. That was quite a moment when the Doctor stuck in the small TARDIS gave Clara the psychic paper and sonic screwdriver and a bit amusing when she put the TARDIS in her bag. Oh my what a moment when Clara called herself the Doctor upon meeting Rigsy. With the use of the psychic paper Clara tells the soon to be doomed PC Forrest that she is from MI5. Wondered if Jenna Coleman got any tips on playing a MI5 officer from Keeley Hawes (Time Heist) and Hermione Norris (Kill The Moon) as both had played one in Spooks. Funny seeing Clara getting that hammer via the TARDIS out of her bag. Fenton seeing the psychic paper for what it is as something blank because he lacked imagination was certainly something that was not expected. Somehow it is surprising that he managed to survived all this. The 2Dis which complements the name of the TARDIS was certainly nifty in name and function. Quite a shock on seeing a big hand grabbing worker no. 36. The monsters that appeared here were basically 3D monsters and they were effective ones at that. Quite cool when the Doctor did the Thing from The Addams Family when he used his fingers to walk the TARDIS out of the rail track. In fact I did not notice Clara mentioning The Addams Family when she asked the Doctor to do the Thing until my second viewing of this episode. Also just as Doctor Who celebrated its 50th anniversary last year 2013, The Addams Family recently celebrated its own 50th anniversary. Unusual on seeing the TARDIS as a cube. Impressive on seeing the TARDIS growing back to her normal size and quite a good send-off to the zombies As the Doctor was basically incapacitated for most of this episode, Clara definitely made a good Doctor in this episode. An excellent effort from her. Quite intriguing that this episode ends with Missy saying that she has chosen well with Clara. A very good episode and whilst watching it I thought of Fear Her. While I never disliked Fear Her, I have noticed comments that Flatline was the episode that Fear Her should have been.
From the next time trailer of In The Forest of the Night, it looks like Danny finally gets to travel in the TARDIS along with some school kids.

Flatline Extra: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wlaa_PZi898Even though the Doctor was unwilling to admit to Clara, it was good to hear from Peter Capaldi that Clara was a good Doctor in Flatline. To be honest it did not occur to me that Rigsy was companion to Doctor Clara until it was mentioned here by narrator Matt Botten. When Botten brought up about art coming to life, it did not surprise me that Fear Her was the first of these examples to be shown as I have noted the similarity between Flatline & Fear Her in my remarks on Flatline itself. Interesting to hear from Steven Moffat on just how much Clara has learnt on being the Doctor in Flatline.

In the Doctor Who Extra on Flatline it show a woman yelling action with the subtitle referring to her as Director. However this is erroneous as the director of Flatline was a man Douglas Mackinnon.
