Surprising that this episode starts with a brief bit of the title sequence. Danny Pink only appears for a few seconds here and this is his briefest appearance since his introduction in Into The Dalek. This episode sees the return of the memory worm, previously and originally introduced in The Snowmen. Intriguing that thanks to the memory worm, the Doctor and Clara without remembering how they got to where they were, found themselves all of a sudden with a couple of other people Psi and Saibra being assigned to rob the Bank of Karabraxos. Back in 2007, John Simm had been cast as the Master and Simm had already been known for his lead role in Life On Mars. Now this episode sees the casting of Keeley Hawes, Simm’s successor and counterpart in Life On Mars spin-off Ashes to Ashes. Had a little smile when Keeley Hawes made her entrance as Ms Delphox. After watching this episode, that with its premise, I read that it was like a heist movie with Ocean’s 11 being brought up as an example. However the one heist movie that came to my mind whilst watching this episode was The Bank Job and incidentally I remember that in one review of this movie I read was that it should be enjoyed by anyone who likes Life On Mars since both took place in the 1970s. So coincidentally here in Time Heist it featured Life On Mars spin-off Ashes to Ashes luminary Keeley Hawes as the principal guest star. Ms Delphox felt somewhat like Miss Foster from Partners In Crime in their mannerisms. When Ms Delphox told the suited customer that his mind will be deleted due to his guilt being detected I sure didn’t expect that she meant that literally. The Doctor says to picture the one thing one has in one’s mind and how badly one wants it. I certainly know what that feeling is like. Upon learning that Psi has the ability to delete his own memories, Clara says that she has memories that she likes to delete. On a personal experience if I am able to delete an unpleasant memory that I had in high school shortly after it happened, which involved a despicable person by the name of Geoff McNeil, I would have been with an old schoolfriend I had wanted to be with. Intense when Clara tried to clear her mind just as the Teller was coming in her direction. Noticed upon the series of pictures that were displayed included Captain John Hart who appeared in Torchwood season 2 and Abslom Daak – Dalek Killer, a character only seen in Doctor Who comics. Captain John Hart was played by James Marsters who had expressed an interest in appearing in Doctor Who after seeing an episode of the “new” series but managed to appear in spin-off Torchwood as the said character instead. So his wish of being in Doctor Who kind of got granted by that picture of him as Captain John Hart included here in Time Heist. Very interesting when the Doctor explains why this episode is called Time Heist. Shocking when the Doctor, all of a sudden came face to face with the Teller. After seeing their apparent deaths, I guess in retrospect that it should not be a surprise that Saibra and Psi weren’t dead at all. Shocking that Madame Karabraxos has the same face as Ms Delphox, the latter being a clone of the former and amazing that when the former fired the latter she meant that literally. Like the Doctor’s opposite of shut up as de-shut up. Amazing the revelation that it was older Madame Karabraxos who asked the Doctor to do the heist and it was the Doctor who organised this heist for its true purpose. Time Heist has truly been a very fun heist movie-type episode although the final revelation about why the heist was made seems somewhat predictable in hindsight.
The Next Week trailer for The Caretaker reveals that the caretaker is the Doctor himself as he goes back to school and he previously went undercover at a school when the Tenth Doctor posed as a teacher in School Reunion.

Time Heist Extra: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtgrOV5C72APeter Capaldi mentioned that he had worked with Keeley Hawes before. That was in the 2001 TV movie Hotel! which also featured Eighth Doctor Paul McGann and real Captain Jack actor Matt Rippy. Interesting to hear how Keeley Hawes got cast in Time Heist. It was absolute delight having her here whatever the reason and Keeley certainly enjoyed doing it. Fun of Jonathan Bailey (Psi) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (Saibra) in talking about their characters and what would they do if they had their characters’ abilities for real. When the memory worm was brought quite funny when cast and crew have trouble remembering it. Narrator Matt Botten said that Psi and Saibra might return one day and I certainly wouldn’t mind if they did return.
