Written by showrunner Steven Moffat This is the episode, as seen in a teaser trailer, of the Doctor sitting on top of the TARDIS. Eerie beginning in the TARDIS with that speech from the Doctor. In the lead-up to this episode I got the feeling that this was going to be similar in style to another Moffat-written episode Blink. In fact, whereas, Blink, was about the actions of the eyes, Listen refers to actions of the ears. Directed by Douglas Mackinnon and Peter Capaldi is the third Doctor he has directed after David Tennant and Matt Smith. A hand coming from under the bed which is something that was shown in another Moffat-written episode The Girl In The Fireplace. Eerie, thanks to the Doctor, that Clara met Danny as a boy only he was called Rupert back then. The Twelfth Doctor uses the psychic paper for the first time. The figure here has been presented as the opposite of the Weeping Angels in which Blink provided their debut. Whereas looking at the Weeping Angels was the way to defeat them, it is the complete opposite for the Figure. Oh my it was Clara who influenced Rupert/Danny’s later career choice as a soldier. Astounding that no-one other than Clara noticed the man in the spacesuit in the restaurant and then the revelation that this was Orson Pink, a descendant of Danny’s. Surprising that the boy in the barn was the Doctor. As the boy Doctor was in his first body that means he will grow up to become William Hartnell and Clara had been seen before with the First Doctor before in The Name of the Doctor. Nice surprise seeing the War Doctor as he returns, chronologically, to the barn in The Day of the Doctor. Nice moment of Clara hugging the Twelfth Doctor, quite a contrast to two episodes earlier in Into The Dalek when she slapped him. A superb episode with an excellent direction by Mackinnon although not quite 100% satisfactory in understanding what went on here, at least from my initial viewing of it.
The Next Time trailer for Time Heist shows it is an episode that I have been waiting for as it guest stars Keeley Hawes as Ms Delphox.

Listen Extra: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukp2CiGP_eUCorresponding Doctor Who Extra to Listen. With Listen showing us the Doctor as the boy, narrator Matt Botten presented not a bad overview of what is known of the Doctor in his days on Gallifrey. It is too bad that there wasn’t an interview with the boy himself. Would love to know some information about him like what his name is as he is uncredited. Interesting to see Orson’s living arrangement. When asked the question of what is under one’s bed, Jenna Coleman, Samuel Anderson and Remi Gooding (Rupert) answered that question but not the Doctor himself Peter Capaldi.

Listen - A Poem by Steven Moffat: www.youtube.com/watch?v=caY9oIZaKEEThe poem of Listen written by former showrunner Steven Moffat as a tie-in to the global rewatch of his episode Listen. Peter Capaldi is not here as the Twelfth Doctor but playing him instead is Jacob Dudman as he reads this poem. Fascinating as it detailed what the Doctor encountered during the events of the said episode.
