Lost In The Dark Dimension was originally an official project to celebrate Doctor Who’s thirtieth anniversary in 1993 and would have starred predominantly Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. Ultimately it did not get made for reasons that can be read here: www.doctorwhonews.net/2014/05/lost-in-dark-dimension.htmlRecently a fan made animated production has been made of Lost In The Dark Dimension, Part 1 of which is available on Youtube and starring Paul Jones as the Fourth Doctor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rilhirixZxs&feature=youtu.beGlad to see an execution of Lost In The Dark Dimension, regardless of whether it is official or a fan made production. Fascinated by what I am seeing so far from this first part of the story. Good material that has been given to the Fourth Doctor and also what is being given to Ace. The character of Hawkspur sure looked devious. Look forward to see the rest of the story.

Part 2: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT_-7kl6vRsThis episode is dedicated to the memory of Rik Mayall who passed away on June 9 2014 as it had been intended for him to play the villain Hawkspur for the official project before it got cancelled. The deviousness of Hawkspur is fascinating here and the way that his plan is progressing including when he talked to his two prisoners. Alex Stewart, the Brigadier’s son is also a focus here. As far as official Doctor Who is concerned it is only known that the Brig has a daughter, Kate. If Lost In The Dark Dimension had been officially made, there would have been no doubt to Alex’s existence. The way that this story has been played out Ace and the Brigadier meets each other for the first time, as their meeting in Battlefield never happened. Fascinating that this episode ends with the cliffhanger of the Brig recounting to Ace of what happened when he saw the Fourth Doctor after his fall from the Pharos Project, a situation that has been played out differently to what happened in Logopolis where the Pharos Project took place. Making a brief appearance here is the Saxon Security van. A reference from this fan production team to perhaps Harold Saxon, the Master.

Part 3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8VEgG62WPUAn absolutely enjoyable third part of this story nice interaction between the Fourth, the Brigadier and Ace. I can only imagine how Tom Baker, Nick Courtney and Sophie Aldred would have made the interaction with their characters had the official project been made. It also includes cameos from characters who weren’t even around in 1993 when the official project was intended to be made and shown. One of these cameos is of particular significance due to what was revealed of this character in official Doctor Who. Good cliffhanger with what the Doctor has to do and answering the Brig’s question of what happens when the worse happens.

Part 4: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEw865sZR9UIntriguing destination the Fourth Doctor goes to while the Brigadier and Ace also has an intriguing destination of their own. Interesting cameos from the Third and Fifth Doctors plus an unusual looking Cyberman.

Part 5: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDe_iDKVO5YInteresting conversation between the Third and Fourth Doctors. I wonder how this dialogue would have been delivered by Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker had this officially been made. The Sixth Doctor is on trial again and gets to meet the Brigadier. If this had been officially made it would have marked the first meeting between Sixie and the Brig instead of Dimensions In Time. A key moment when Ace meets the Seventh Doctor even though the former does not remember the latter. Thrilling cliffhanger with glowing eyes.

Part 6: www.youtube.com/watch?v=387E44qhWIQThe final part in the fan animation of the abandoned 30th anniversary story Lost In The Dark Dimension. Very good conclusion which culminates in the sword fight between the Doctor and Hawkspur and things going back to normal. An extra scene after the end credits and what a surprise on who turns up here since such a scene would definitely not been filmed had the story went out in 1993 as originally intended.

Lost In The Dark Dimension The Movie: www.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR1MwtOdVy6xeQ0E-kCIp9Fhk8EUM2aSfAiu4bQfPt6c1hEpmGVy_KEntEU&v=neQbzMCHJ8o&feature=youtu.beThis is the compilation of the fan produced unmade 30th anniversary story Lost In The Dark Dimension. This fan made production of Lost In The Dark Dimension was originally released in six parts between 2014 and 2017. This compilation was released in December 2018. Looking at the end credits of this movie I noticed that playing the Third and Fifth Doctors was Jonathon Carley. Evidently Carley must like the original story as he reprised the Third and Fifth Doctors for the 2021 audio adaptation of it albeit simply titled Dark Dimension. Incidentally Carley is Big Finish's new War Doctor. He also did War as well as 12 in Doctors Assemble. Playing the Brigadier in the animated Lost In The Dark Dimension was Wink Taylor. Taylor too was in Doctors Assemble where he played the Seventh Doctor and this Doctor was played by Kurt Bergeron in Lost In The Dark Dimension.
