Most Doctor Who fans believe the 6th Doctor's Era sucked. I thought it was a good era. Attack of the Cybermen was by far the best. Trial of a Time Lord was good but should have been at least 7-8 episodes. Also I wish they would have given Peri a better send off.

Revelation of the Daleks was another good one and so was the two Doctors. The only ones i have a real problem with is The Twin Dilemma, Vengeance on Varos and Timelash the rest are good and the Trial works for some reason that i haven't worked out. What this needs is a poll. Ashley

Taking the BBC novels and Big Finish CDs into account on his reign as the Doctor, Colin's character certainly grew beyond the sad scripts he was given throughout most of his television run.

i liked him even with the terrible scripts, i found his doctor the anti-hero that he was intended to be, he had a likable streak, but netherless he was still an antihero beneath it

Well, I am only judging on his TV stories, but may think otherwise when I get around to reading Spiral Scratch amoungst other novels.

I liked Colin as the Doctor. I'll admit he played the role in a rather different fashion to many of the other actors before him (although at times he did bear a resemblance to William Hartnells portrayal in the first few stories of the series) and this may put some people off him, but I've nothing against him. I do think a lot of his era is vastly underrated, there are some classic stories in there such as Attack of the Cybermen, Vengeance on Varos, The Two Doctors, Revelation of the Daleks and Trial of a Timelord really isn't that bad either.

Trial of a Time Lord was good but should have been at least 7-8 episodes. Also I wish they would have given Peri a better send off. Loved Doctor Number 6, hated Mel. Doc number 6 had some really good stories, not to sure about the Twin Dilemma and as much as i thought Peri was annoying i didn't want her strangled (well maybe i did a little) Trial Of a time Lord was WAY to long, but it was brilliant, and i like the insults he dished out, Scrap-Yard, Boat-Yard, Ship-Yard- classic stuff. If you want a bit more of a decent regeneration sequence read Spiral Scratch, it is such a good Novel for the sixth doctor, and gives much more of a back story for Mel. I agree Peri should have had a better send off, but they do meet again in the Virgin New Adventure Bad therapy

Colin was my favourite Doctor, but I thought that most of his stories were ill-conceived.
The Twin Dilemma was okay, Attack Of The Cybermen was a tangle of good ideas resolved by having everyone get killed at the end (no cleverness there), Vengeance On Varos was a classic, Mark Of The Rani was good apart from the unworkable scene in the forest, The Two Doctors dragged and wasted its good ideas, Timelash had terrible effects and heaps of story holes ("I'll explain later"?), Revelation Of The Daleks again had a good idea that didn't really get anywhere, and Trial Of A Time Lord was just scared of being either too funny or too serious, and as a result achieved neither.
What did come through however, was the sixth Doctor's absolutely sparkling dialogue and character. This was a Doctor who really could do anything next. Strangle Peri, become a hermit, give-up forever when the TARDIS ran out of fuel, anything. After the 18-month break they toned this wild aspect down however, again apparently afraid of audience reaction, and he was rather sanitised and nice from that point onwards.
I used to love hearing him and Peri argue every week. I really miss those days.

I think the 6th Doctor was very underrated, although I agree that Colin Baker was landed with some pretty awful scripts (I'm surprised he managed to make as much of them as he did).
I think what made him enjoyable to watch was his unpredictability: unlike the others you really didn't know what direction he would fly off in.

I loved him and that brash and grumpy demeanor. I also loved that force of will and unflinching determination he showed in the worst situations. It's true that he was given the short end of the stick by the BBC; the scripts were not terribly good, and the Powers That Be blamed Colin for the shortcomings of others -- grossly unfair.
