Star Trek: Deep Space Nine alum Chase Masterson made her Doctor Who debut in Big Finish’s The Shadow Heart playing Vienna Salvatori (whose character description made her sound like La Femme Nikita).
It seems that Big Finish was so impressed with her performance that they decided for her to have her own spin-off:

I can definitely say for sure that this is the first time that a Doctor Who spin-off is being headlined by a Star Trek alum and this is something I didn’t expect would ever happen.
