Well, I rate him 8 out of 10. Your turn.

I agree with that. He was a good Doctor but not the best.

I'll say 9/10, he did very well considering coming straight after Tom Baker, not an easy task to follow. He played the character well and I liked the vulnerability his Doctor had.
However I do think that in his first season (brilliant as it is) he suffered from companion overload, it would have worked better if it had been just Tegan and Nyssa (one on level with the audience and one on level with the Doctor).
I think something that was very effective in his era was the visible deterioration you saw in him before he regenerated in 'Caves of Androzani', very well done.

'The Caves of Androzani', a work of art if no one minds my saying so.

I'll go with 8/10 as well... He was the last good Doctor of the "classic" series and his portrayal as a "weaker" Doctor made enemies/predicaments that little bit scarier and/or thrilling... I like Troughton for a similar reason... Also, kudos to the man for wearing a vegetable on his lapel!

Because it let him know when there were any dangerous gases in the air.

Yes I know that! I mean, why in, real life, celery? Because they thought the cabbage was taking it a bit too far

Because they thought the cabbage was taking it a bit too far Seriously. Why celery? I've done a fair amount of googling and... No-one seems to know (including Davison)... nzdwfc.tetrap.com/archive/tsv10/celery.html for a New Zealand Fan Club investigation

I would give him a 9/10. He was probabably the best since Troughton(sorry Tom.)
