Snowfall is an online short story on the BBC Doctor Who site as part of the 2010 Advent calendar. Part 1: Frozen: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/adventure_calendar_day_09b Part 1 incidentally was released on December 9 which happens to be my birthday. Quite a good setup for this story taking place at a train station as David Kershaw encounters an acquaintance who unexpectedly found something in common with him.

Cold Snap Part 1: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/adventure_calendar_day_10brIn the opening installment of Snowfall we meet Big Jack. For the first part of Cold Snap we found out how he met the Doctor. The Doctor helps out a family as they are stranded in a theatre. Soon a menace lurks nearby. The story so far is quite creepy with a good cliffhanger.

Vampire Hurricane Part 1: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/adventure_calendar_day_20bDavid tells his story of how he met the Doctor. This story plays on the real world’s current vampire craze but the vampires here have been approached in quite a different way. Here they are made with the intention of them being toys but things don’t go as planned. Reading the vampires as toys made me think of the teddy bear in Terror of the Autons – they are all very dangerous. Very very thrilling in displaying the horror of the vampires and the last line which marks the cliffhanger is very creepy.

Vampire Hurricane Part 2: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/adventure_calendar_day_23bThe cliffhanger is resolved by reusing a resolution for one of the TV cliffhangers. As the Doctor says, “Well it worked before”. A well played conclusion to Vampire Hurricane. Surprisingly Glee gets referenced in the heartwarming coda to this segment of Snowfall.
